Manic Game Girl is one of the few Korean exclusive games for PS1. The story follows Amber, who has just started college and ends up joining an anime club. At the same time, she receives a console that allows her to transform into a superhero and use the powers of the video games she buys.

I wrote a long article about Rieko Kodama, her career at Sega, the evolution of her company, the games she worked on (including some canceled games and/or games for which she is not credited), the status of women and working conditions in the video game industry, etc.

Illustration: a portrait of Rieko Kodama with some of the games she has worked on. The dominant colors are yellow, purple and red. Counterclockwise from top left: Rieko Kodama, Alis and Lutz from Phantasy Star, Sonic in a maze, Alex Kidd and his motorbike next to Flicky on a waterfront pier, Joe Musashi and his dog near the Statue of Liberty facing a skyline, the three playable characters from Golden Axe seen from behind on the edge of a cliff, and one of the flying ships from Skies of Arcadia.

Never knew it got released outside Japan! I have the PS2 game and a few of the figures knocking about somewhere, but I've never come across them in the wild over here.

This is the best sticker that they have ever put on a game box. Even better than ‘Featuring Dante…’

I've spent almost half a decade researching every car ever made & can confirm that the bright yellow Husdon van with multiple TVs & a cowboy hat wearing bee remains the ultimate mode of transport

The bee in a cowboy hat improves all things. He's like a Pooka, only more bee shaped
an old tweet from '21 with a pic of Hudson's promotional van from the 80s-90s. It's bright yellow, has 8 TVs on one side & their bee mascot in his cowboy hat printed on the back door

Strongly believe that this is the best alternate costume ever added to a video game

The stark, monochrome beauty of an Apple Mac Paris in an alternate 1995. Be sure to visit the arcology on your next visit!

📺: Sim City 2000, Maxis, 1993
A screenie of Sim City 2000 running on a virtual machine Apple IIfx and OS 7. It's got a stark, sharp, monochrome quality to the isometric rendition of Paris.

The Clashpads, a set of PlayStation 2-compatible controllers built to allow players to interfere with each other's inputs during a game.

Even if I would never have anybody to test it with, I'm still kicking myself for not picking these weird gamepads up at PRGE in 2017. I've never seen them again.
A package of "Clashpads" from Gamester (The Unfair Advantage) - "Mess with each other's controller - Head-2-Head gameplay revenge". They resemble PlayStation DualShock 2 controllers, hard-wired to a control box between them to switch on or off certain effects, which the plastic blister-packaging describes as "Switch, Knockout, Overturn, Possess."

Who the hell would use shit like ChatGPT when Dear Daria on the 2002 Sony Clié PEG-NX80V exists
A 2002 Sony PDA displaying a Daria themed application. You can ask it questions, a bit like a magic 8 ball.

Infinitely better than any AI shite.
