11 years ago, my son Danny died. He was one of the early victims of the toxic drug crisis, one of over 50,000.
This video, showing Danny as a young chef, gives you a glimpse into what we have lost.
Keep fighting for #harmreduction. It would have saved him.

This sexist policy will affect more cis-gender girls and transgender. Any girl that is taller, stronger, and tougher might get singled out.
Also, good way to take out the best players of the opposing team for a few weeks.
Conservatives are preoccupied with girls genitals. This is sick.

Every Canadian woman should be screaming at the top of their lungs about this but because it is Alberta and Albertan women don’t apparently care, no one is hearing about it.

Think of the impact this would have on the pt's family, wondering if an open local ED could have made a difference?

We understand that we cannot have an ED in every town, but closures are regularly occurring in places like: Hinton, Edson, Lac La Biche, Oyen... and many more

Mandatory recovery treatment doesn't solve homelessness, building affordable housing does.

I CAN'T BELIEVE PEOPLE HAVE A HARD TIME UNDERSTANDING THIS .....

You always hear people talking about illegal drugs and those who use them.
However you rarely hear people talking about the massive alcohol consumption problem we have, and just how much damage it causes our world ....

If there was ever a "gateway" drug to other drugs, it's ALCOHOL!

When the Alberta government claims that deaths from the toxic drug crisis are decreasing or stabilizing, take a look at this graph — it tells a very different story.

Involuntary care won’t fix this.
Compassion, harm reduction, on-demand voluntary treatment options, and real supports will.

Bar chart showing the monthly counts of drug poisoning deaths in Alberta from January 2016 to June 2025. The chart shows a steady increase over time, with deaths rising sharply around mid-2020 and peaking in several months between 2021 and 2025, reaching highs around 80–90 deaths per month.

Designated driver - is harm reduction.

Bike helmets - is harm reduction.

Seat belts - is harm reduction.

Supervised consumption sites - is harm reduction.

All these approaches cannot stop accidents from happening but can definitely reduce the harms that are caused by them....

“It might cause a bit of angst to put some of the stuff out in the public domain but, hey, we do live in a democracy,” he said.

Basic indicators of [health/education/addiction] system performance should be publicly accessible. But increasingly in Alberta they aren't.

The same fingings over and over: 79% men, most aged 30 to 59 from fentanyl.

Only regulated alternatives and rapid access to evidence-based voluntary treatment will change this.

Yet all levels of government are ok seing the same stats every month.

In 1936 the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Carl von Ossietzky, a German pacifist convicted of high treason for exposing German re-armament. At the time of the award he was in a concentration camp. As a result Hitler banned any German from accepting a Nobel Prize and created his own German prize.
