The Ladies of Llangollen, Eleanor Butler (1739–1829) and Sarah Ponsonby (1755–1831), were two upper-class Irish women who lived together as a couple.
The pair moved to a Gothic house in Llangollen, North Wales, in 1780 after leaving Ireland to escape the social pressures of conventional marriages.
The Rt. Honble. Lady Eleanor Butler & Miss Ponsonby 'The Ladies of Llangollen' Illustration by James Henry Lynch
The two women are depicted in formal black dresses, wearing top hats, and walking together with a small dog by their side. They are set against a natural landscape backdrop with rocky terrain and possibly a distant view of an abbey or ruins. Sarah Ponsonby (left)and Lady Eleanor Butler, recluses known as the Ladies of Llangollen, seated in their library. Lithograph by R.J. Lane, ca. 1832
This is a black-and-white lithograph or engraving showing the Ladies of Llangollen, Lady Eleanor Butler and Sarah Ponsonby, wearing masculine outfits and seated together in an ornate room. A sleepy cat is also sitting at the table. They are surrounded by various objects and books, indicating a scholarly or intellectual setting. The room's interior is richly detailed, emphasizing their domestic life. Susan Murray Tait: Ladies of Llangollen 1819
This is a watercolor painting that depicts the Ladies of Llangollen walking together. Both women are wearing dark cloaks with short, white wild hairstyles, giving them a cool androgynous appearance. They are shown on a pathway, emphasizing their close companionship as they walk side by side.

Ok but also, it's become quite difficult to hide one's money...like that's a bad thing? Sounds like he's just bitching about how hard it is to be rich these days.

Folks, this isn't to any of you specifically because I've seen more than one person doing it.

SUGGESTING THAT A BROWN WOMAN WON THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE TO REBUKE/TROLL A WHITE MAN

is super duper fucking racist on a pogo stick.

Please do not do that.

Enjoy that it will make Trump mad, sure.

Thank you 🙏🏽 As far as I can tell, this storm wasn't as bad as last year's, although more gravel did wash away from under my dad's house and another house down the beach tipped. We have another big storm coming next week. We just need the sound to freeze so we don't have to deal with waves!

More of the aftermath. My dad's house is visible in this video. More erosion on this end of town. Dad's house is safe, for now.

The aftermath. There is still flooding in many areas in Kotzebue, with debris all over and another storm coming on Monday. My cousin is OK, my dad's house is fine, and as far as I know, we didn't lose anyone.

You. Do. Not. Try. To. Prove. Your. Hypothesis.

That is completely backwards.

The proper way to do science is to form a hypothesis, and then do everything you can to try and tear that hypothesis apart.

Any other way is scientifically unsound at the least, and malpractice or outright lies at worst

You've probably heard how a high percentage of #Nobel laureates are immigrants. The US in particular has benefited from the influx of bright minds.

@jennaahart.bsky.social ran the data for this century's Nobel prizewinners — and shows more than 30% immigrated. 🧪

“The state also […] had activated its emergency operations center in preparation for a series of storms that are set to hit Western Alaska through the weekend. Kotzebue and other communities, including Kivalina, Shishmaref, Golovin, and Nunam Iqua, are expected to be among the hardest hit.”

Another "storm of the century" is hitting Kotzebue, for the second year in a row. Last year's storm almost took out my dad's house. Woke up to videos of the flooding and it's already bad. They are expected to get another storm after this one passes.

Kotzebue has issued a mandatory evacuation order as flooding from coastal storm begins
Water could rise as much as 10 feet above the high tide line, according the National Weather Service

My dad passed last summer so fortunately he doesn't have to see this again. My cousin lives on the shore though. No news from her is good news, hopefully 🤞🏽

A friend of mine lives on the other end of town from my dad's house and you can see that the water is now receding (thank goodness) but is still high and still washing away the road on that end of town.

A video from my friend Kathleen from 5 hours ago. I know her windows are dirty, but this is the most recent video I've found. She starts and ends at the end of town my dad lived on.

Yes, it was last year. My dad was evacuated last year. He passed last summer. My cousin also lives on front Street and is worried about her house and family too.

Kotzebue residents are under a mandatory evacuation due to an oncoming storm surge. Residents who believe they are safe in home are asked to stay in place, but many are being asked to move to higher ground/more inland. Residents needing help evacuating need to call the KPD dispatch. #Alaska #AKLife
