yeah I'm in no way against this prize to encourage the development of other tools. it's nice to see billionaires do pro-social things for once.

just seemed like it would be a more fitting reply to op than to my little tangent about a bad, over-engineered tree replacement.

algae is indeed more efficient for its size, but this does not appear scalable and adds unnecessary cost, complexity, cooling disadvantages, and, well, plain ugliness compared to 2 beautiful trees

no silver bullet can solve the crisis on its own unfortunately

If you're a writer/other creator in the United States, consider creating an LLC for your business and then signing up for a local area Chamber of Commerce. Many of them have health insurance plans that pool their members and members of other CoCs to create insurance efficiencies relative to ACA.

Let me emphasise: I don't (as a racialised person in academia myself) accept the caricature of DEI as a scheme for promoting those who lack merit. I am highlighting the hypocrisy of the reactionary right who peddle that caricature. The real scheme for meritless promotion is of course white supremacy
