Journalism is about objectivity, not neutrality. Neutral "journalism" is a canard.

Neutrality and objectivity are not the same. Objectivity is a slave to facts in pursuit of the truth. Neutrality is the art of presenting fact and fiction as equal.

Neutrality evelates lies. It's de facto bias.

The Trump administration on Saturday scrambled to rescind layoffs of hundreds of CDC scientists who were mistakenly fired on Friday night in what appeared to be a substantial procedural lapse.

Have Anthony Rendon go to school to become an AC tech
Yusei Kikuchi told Japanese reporters after his final start— which he exited due to cramping
— that because the weight room has no air conditioning, he always does his warm-up drenched in sweat.
He wanted the Angels to fix the lack of AC, but they never did all season.

I figure he's just really good in bed at whatever kink it is that studio execs are embracing these days.

I've only seen this movie once, but I've watched this scene maybe 30 or 40 times on YouTube. I remember the movie as a B, but that final scene was A++++++

One of the few extended versions i think is essential, along with The Abyss and Fellowship. I can't imagine what they could've cut for theatrical. Whatever it was had to hurt the movie.

Me too. It was recommended to me that way. Dang good. And a helluva performance by Rebecca Ferguson. Super disturbing performance and even more disturbing to me that i found her convincing psychopath to also be hot af. And not just in a Rebecca is always hot way. Something extra. Maybe it's the hat.

Do you have a preference between DocSleep theatrical or extended?

I always loved this picture.
the Annie Liebovitz Vanity Fair fashion shoot 'Hollywood 2016', with a load of A list actresses dressed in black sitting or lying draped around, looking moody, not smiling, a lot of skin on show, primped and sultry. Diane Keaton stands on the right at the back, grinning straight into the camera, also wearing black but in a long sleeved black coat, high neck and black wide brimmed hat. They were her own clothes. She looks like she was enjoying herself enormously.

Yeah, that is the one i miss the most. It was my introduction to Allen, and it is so very funny. I can't help that i feel weird now when i see him onscreen, which is why i no longer rewatch stuff he acted in, but i should go back and see if I feel the same rewatching that old fave. Ditto for H&W.

So many terrific performances in HUSBANDS AND WIVES, but I especially want Sydney Pollack's performance to remembered forever. He was also great in Michael Clayton, and he was hilarious in his own movie Tootsie. I so wish he had acted more.

Whether by design or not, i take as the message of The Purple Rose of Cairo that all men are trash, as the only decent man in the movie is a fictional character. Sometimes artists espouse ideals they can't live up to, or are violating horribly every day. That doesn't mean the art is meaningless.

Exactly how i feel about her and a number of other actors who absolutely killed it in many of his movies. I'll admit that i have little interest in revisiting movies he features in prominently, but it doesn't mean i think they are all trash. One without him acting, Purple Rose, i unabashedly love.

I see Trump got *his* COVID booster
A formal memo on White House letterhead dated October 10, 2025, from Sean P. Barbabella, D.O., the Physician to the President, addressed to Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. It reports that Donald J. Trump completed a follow-up evaluation at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, showing “excellent overall health.” The memo highlights “stable metabolic, hematologic, and cardiac parameters,” claims his “cardiac age” is 14 years younger than his actual age, and notes he received “preventive health screenings and immunizations, including annual influenza and updated COVID-19 booster vaccinations.” The summary concludes that he remains in “exceptional health.” The juxtaposition of praise-filled medical language with the mention of COVID vaccination reads like unintentional satire, as though the document is trying too hard to sound reassuring while betraying its own irony.

I stopped posting that clip after a while, but for a vv long time i was moved to post it again and again and again. I hate to credit the guy, but it's the perfect encapsulation of my feelings on Nazis.

One of the reasons i cannot totally turn my back on some Woody Allen films is because i never want to forget some of the greatest performances I've ever seen, such as Diane Keaton in pretty much everything she did with him. I know that's hard for some to understand, but la-di-da.

To some of you on the timeline right now: Woody Allen turning out to be a grotesque shitheel does not diminish Diane Keaton’s performance in ANNIE HALL, and it’s OK not to caveat your praise of the latter with condemnation of the former.

We know.

A reminder that @nytimes didn't always have an aversion to labeling things as fascist. But those were movies made by Hollywood and not modern fascist politicians with whom the publisher clearly stands strong.
