The surveillance-to-algorithmically-enforced-belief-formation pipeline goes brrrrr
Brace for another wave of x refuges
Slowly sinking in that the Overton window has been summarily demo’d, and we’re just staring through a gaping fourth wall (at an abysmal world-view that’s gazing right back)

In the last month, Washington Post Editorial Board has:
•Called to RE-invade Afghanistan
•Blamed Hamas as Israel kills 100+ Palestinians since "ceasefire"
•Defended Trump destroying the White House

This is what state media looks like. I guess "Democracy Dies in Darkness" was a mission statement.😐
I suspect there’s a strong component of people in a hyper individualized society subconsciously anticipating they’ll have to do any/everything themselves, and reflexively nope-ing…
Starting a vicious rumor that daylight savings indefinitely postponed due to gov shutdown. Cleave the official timeline, it is irredeemably cursed.
Early fall post rain slanting light chasing cloud across slopes of golden oak lichen glossed stone and fuzzy green turf shoots is p cool. Fun collab!
Packing a wad of acorns in my pocket most places I go these days AND happy to see fellow tree folk nodding/winking etc

Washington state and Oregon are going to leave the United States as #Cascadia and people ought to just get accommodated with that. At the appropriate time we'll lay out what the plan is, but there's a plan and we will peacefully leave the Union in '28.
Steve Bannon: “Trump is gonna get a third term and people ought to just get accommodated with that. At the appropriate time we’ll lay out what the plan is, but there’s a plan and President Trump will be the president in ‘28.”
One stupendous fire breather; with a lively “underburn” Rx column over that E flank 🫦

More specifically: in the face of so much destruction and disregard, it's vital to be reminded of our capacity to love and care for even the smallest things, that we can work toward restoration and repair, even (or especially) after catastrophic loss.
Peeking in at juveniles in the sunflower sea star (Pycnopodia helianthoides) breeding program at Friday Harbor Labs was just overwhelmingly hopeful. These little guys can grow to 3ft across.

>90% of sunflower stars along N. America's west coast were killed by sea star wasting disease in 2013-14.

This is a MUST read. Not only does it clearly explain the failings of the crypto market, there are parallels to the functions of the stock market, which if you are paying attention has very similar issues. Only difference it is regulated and there are circuit breakers. Liquidity still a risk/issue.
Newsletter: Anatomy of a crypto meltdown

October 2025 brought the most dramatic crypto flash crash of all time, but it was only a dress rehearsal for the systemic crisis the industry is building toward.

It's going to be thousands of human slaves in "robot" suits, isn't it
Musk hyping V3 of the Optimus robot, which should be "available" in Q1.

"It won't seem like a robot, it will seem like a person in a robot suit... which is sorta how we started this," Musk says, without a hint of irony. You'll have to poke it to tell it's not a human, he says (um...)
