Quite a bit of research on how tourists/ignorant eyes think bleached white (ie often dead/dying) reefs are “prettier”
Reminds me of this August 2015 Tweet from Rupert Murdoch opining that the Great Barrier Reef (GBR) looked fine to him (at a time of debate about the prospect of a coral bleaching event that summer)

Mass bleaching events since Aug 2015 affecting the GBR: 2016, 2017, 2020, 2022, 2024 and 2025.

“Where are the sanctions? The expulsion of Israeli ambassadors? The suspension of arms shipments? The closure of embassies? There is nothing, because this outrage is not genuine.” Stop falling for the rhetoric. Look at their actions. open.substack.com/pub/sakr/p/r...
What blows my mind is the candid disclosure of Israel bombing densely populated areas for more than 14 hours a day until now.

Just in case you missed this, this was the first week back in Parliament. It’s revealing to see what motivates @albomp.bsky.social’s government to act. The PM has released yet another statement today about Israel, but again no actual sanctions.

The last panel was harrowing to draw. #auspol
You may already know this but @claresoutherton.bsky.social is doing some super interesting work in this space.

If the media were better they wouldn’t be saying “your plan is great Ken”.
They’d be asking if “nature positive” actually means anything. And have offsets worked literally anywhere? And why try to privatise conservation efforts rather than simply funding them?
And what are your interests, Ken?

Public education is public health.

"Public education has many virtues, the chief one being providing the tools of learning at no cost to families. But another of its traits is the way it breaks down homogeny, forcing children to be in a community with others unlike them."
why destroy the department of education?

would you believe there's a creepy evangelical organization operating in broad daylight but under the radar whose meteoric rise goes a long way towards explaining it?

My heart is hurting for the Torres Strait and the community who brought the historic legal challenge on climate grounds to the Albanese’s government and lost today. They say they are steadfast in their fight for Country and Culture. If only Albanese had an ounce of their courage.

Hello World,

the woman featured in the clip is Jillian Segal, Australia's taxpayer-funded, government-appointed Special Envoy for Combatting Antisemitism

How long will Australian PM @albomp.bsky.social permit her to keep embarrassing his majority Labor government?
