"Correlation is not cognition"
as @olivia.science and @irisvanrooij.bsky.social says
Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Guess what? COVID mRNA vaccines don't just protect against COVID.

COVID mRNA vaccines also cause cancers to become sensitive to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). buff.ly/GEfJ5Zl

Let's fund more mRNA research!

Fascism is such a fundamental attack on wonder and the human imagination and I think everyone should have the opportunity to let their imagination wonder as it wanders — doesn’t matter what you do for a living. Your mind matters! Your relationship with the universe is meaningful!

I like to remind people about lifetime limits and the refusal of insurers to sell coverage to people with preexisting conditions.

The ACA has issues. But those 2 things alone make it worth saving and fixing.

Outstanding interview, so many great quotes here. Loved the weightroom analogy:

Important reminder here that the US is not the only place where fossil fuel interests are pushing back hard against climate science and clean energy 👇
BBC decided to cancel a podcast on heat pumps deeming the topic "controversial" because it presented that the technology could contribute to net zero reducing carbon emmissions.

In 2025 an anti-science posture is not only valid, but required in any debate to be considered "balanced" 😬

I think at this point it's trivially true to say that we— either in the sense of the creators and advocates, or as in this whole society— did not properly understand or prepare for the implications of the internet.

Accelerating collapse means accelerating harm to the most marginalized & vulnerable because the most powerful & comfortable are, definitionally, that. So disabled people, Black people, Indigenous people, Trans & otherwise LGBTQIA people will be the first and main ones harmed, & disproportionately so
Reminder that there is no "left" accelerationism under capitalism

Nuance is needed. For example:

The impact of beef, then pork, is much greater than other meats

Not everyone eats the same amounts (see below).

And we have to stop just wasting it! An estimated 40% of the food we create is wasted.

SO many ways to improve our food system.
How a mere 12% of Americans eat half the nation’s beef, creating significant health and environmental impacts

Important PSA!

Charcoal is a natural absorbent. Unfortunately it's quite liberal when it comes to WHAT it absorbs, meaning: it absorbs ANYTHING that goes into your stomach and gut.

That includes all the active substances from ANY kind of medication you take (incl. contraceptives, vitamins et al).
Friends, Spooky season is upon us.

Remember... foods dyed black with charcoal can interfere with medications. Don't eat them if you have an Rx
