This is also why it was a Big Deal when Beyonce brought the Chicks for her performance at the CMAs in 2016 of Daddy Lessons. The country music charts were so thoroughly overtaken by white nationalist men after 9/11 that 15 years after, the Chicks were still taboo.

In my second of two opinion writing seminars for MPP students today, I was asked about getting canceled in the future over writing today. I immediately responded with my deeply held belief that only The Chicks ever have been canceled. 3 of the 65 people laughed; everyone else was very confused.

I did so many things today!
✅ Got my car service done for the season at the local woman-owned mechanic shop
✅ Had my dental cleaning (with pano)
✅ Bought a new headlight for my bike
✅ Picked up one prescription and followed up with my provider to get the other sent
Now it's time to heat dinner!

I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

I reread Sandry's Book by Tamora Pierce today, this time on audiobook. The full cast audio production is truly a delight. All of the Emelan books are deeply important to me; I adore the handling of terrible circumstances with connection and magic through everyday materials.
