the 80s had a high density of celebrities whose authenticity was hard to figure out, as a kid. like, was Mr. T a real guy? he was like that in shows/movies but also in interviews? or pee wee, elvira, max headroom, various wrestlers. even alf was on celebrity squares. it was a confusing time.

It’s outrageous they’re killing innocent people, but we also need to stress, every time, that it would not really matter even it were absolutely certain that they were drug traffickers. Murdering criminals is still, you know, murder.
The government has killed 32 people in 7 strikes with no evidence they were traffickers. The admiral leading the mission quit. If we had proof, they’d face a court, not a drone.

The law still applies, even to suspected drug traffickers, and right now, the Administration’s story isn’t adding up.

This is among the most corrupt things a president has ever suggested, and I hope the press treats it that way. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/21/u...

Even some of the more "respectable" networks lit up.
Anthony DiLorenzo: PIX-11 was tipped about ICE raid. NYers react:

"People just stopped in their tracks. People were going to school. People were coming home from work or just commuting. And stopped to scream at these ICE agents. Pulled out their phones started recording and telling them to leave."

NEW — I'm suing DC Metro Police for the full body cam footage from the DOGE raid on the US Institute of Peace back in March.

The public deserves to know why MPD chose to sell out the people they’re tasked with protecting in order to bend to Trump's will. I'm repped pro bono by @rcfp.org.

1. outrageous and offensive

2. speaking as someone who's spent eight years running an organization with a very clear rule that "when the primary's over we get behind the winner, no matter what", I do not think centrist Democrats understand the pandora's box they are unleashing with this bullshit
Daniel Goldman went onto CNN earlier *TODAY* and said

1) He isn't sure if he'll vote for Andrew Cuomo
2) And that he won't endorse Mamdani because Mamdnai has not done enough condemnations of anti-Israel violence
Listening to these lyrics...the cut for time for network broadcast saved some people a lot of embarrassment!

good bit from the Guardian review of Giuffre's memoir; I have heard several people from the NGO world express the confusion and embarrassment they felt at billionaires showing up with very young women at events.

I’ll say it again. Not only did they invent this theory. They CHOSE to deliver it to THIS guy, a dangerous raving selfish moron. They could have waited four years and given it all to President Vance or whatever. They chose to give it to Trump.
Unitary executive theory is not wearing well, to say the least. Soon the judges and legal scholars who hatched it (based mostly on some tiny bits and pieces of constitutional text and a tendentious historical account) are going to be lepers. And they are going to richly deserve it.

Here's the link to the complaint, which is a public document and available to share freely:

“[T]he Constitution leaves the House without authority to exclude any person, duly elected by his constituents, who meets all the requirements for membership expressly prescribed in the Constitution.”

there are good & worthwhile historical & legal arguments for why the unitary executive is nonsense but to my mind the most straightforward argument is that it makes no logical sense that the president has absolute removal power over the people whose job it is to keep the executive branch accountable
The Inspector General system is basically broken now. Most IGs have been fired, most positions remain vacant. Those who remain or would take the job pose no risk to holding the regime accountable.
Congress added more barriers to Trump firing IGs after his first term. He just ignored them.

In a decision that I'm sure will have no negative repercussions whatsoever, the University of Arkansas has fired a law prof b/c of public criticism of the prof's comments (on her personal facebook page) about Charlie Kirk: abovethelaw.com/2025/10/law-...
