Whistling when ICE is about to kidnap someone for no reason is incredibly effective. They know what they are doing is wrong and will scatter in the wind when too many witnesses gather.

Just a reminder that Wikipedia is the only remaining reliable source of information that right wing billionaires can't control. (Although they'll never stop trying.)

Please donate to them whenever you can. Even a little bit helps.

NYT piece calls these MAGA types "provocateurs." It describes "dueling versions of reality." Both are common MSM tropes.

But these are not provocateurs. They're propagandists. Only one side is employing deliberate deceptions on a vast scale for instrumental ends. 3/

Save this graph for the next time @MarshaBlackburn @SpeakerJohnson @JDVance try to hold $50 Billion for rural hospitals out as a of win for the 🇺🇸 people

We’re bad at math but $1.1 TRILLION in cuts (for tax cuts for the rich) > $50 BILLION

They think we are all morons

ICE secretly kidnap autistic boy during bathroom break—never notify parents.

Mother reported him missing a week ago—turns out ICE had him detained the whole time.

He was helping sell fruit and asked to go to the restroom—by the time she was done helping a customer he was gone.

A classic case of irresponsible both-sidesism from the NYT. The story is that Trump and MAGA propagandists are lying about Portland to incite a conflict, not that there are different views of the matter.

Good piece: DOGE was the battering ram, but Russ Vought was the one enabling it, and then hiding it's impacts.
During the months when DOGE was most aggressively canceling contracts, O.M.B. was concealing how it was moving money through to agencies. Mr. Vought removed a legally required public database tracking those records. When a court forced the administration to restore it in August, the spending logs showed O.M.B. exerting unusual control over agency spending, using other documents the public can’t see.

Under a 1974 law, it’s illegal for the administration to “impound” or block money appropriated by Congress (to not spend the funds on those credit cards). But Mr. Vought has made clear he believes that law is unconstitutional and wants to test it in court.

It’s considered impolite to use language like this, but “evil” is the best word for what these folks are doing. It’s bad enough to screw over workers to attack political enemies. But here, doing so will literally kill people and lead to avoidable disease.

1. Today, I have a few things to say about that putz Stephen Miller. First, he’s been on TV a lot lately, because that’s how he pours more poison into the president’s already-poisoned brain.

No - at some point they traded it to give staff Juneteenth off instead. A lot of people take PTO because schools are off, but we have pretty generous PTO so it’s ok

Big takeaway so far: community is everything. I had remembered that the Montgomery bus boycott was never just Rosa Parks deciding to take a stand one day, but the doc reminded me of the intense strategy, planning, organizing, mutual aid, and community building that made it a success.
