Wednesday. It's Wednesday, Case.
Panel from the Neuromancer graphic novel adaptation drawn by Bruce Jensen, showing the mirror-covered eyes of the character Molly in close-up against a purple background. A speech bubble to the left reads: 'Wednesday. it's Wednesday, Case.'

Say what you will about Thiel, and I appreciate there are more important things to take issue with, but it takes a special kind of insight to bypass literally thousands of flamboyant antichrist-like figures in anime and manga to end up at One Piece.

Ahh I'll be in London in November, must get a look at this.

Today, The Word for World: The Maps of Ursula K. Le Guin opens at AA Gallery in London! Curated by Sarah Shin and Harriet Jennings, the exhibition presents a selection of Ursula's maps, including some that have never been exhibited before.
A photo of the entrance to The Word for World exhibition, with two banners hanging vertically down outside the doorway to a brick building with white-paned windows. A row of bicycles are parked in front. The banners are purple and white and say the name of the exhibition and Ursula K. Le Guin's name. A cord-wrapped rock rests on a vivid blue background next to a map of and program for The Word for World exhibition. A stack of copies of The Word for World book, which shows the title in vivid blue against a black cloth cover.

Don't feel stupid, but also, if someone helpfully tells you "that's fake," the correct response is "oh shit, let me delete this" not doubling down and disabling comments.

Don’t feel stupid if you fell for fake video. It can be really hard to tell these days. But we do have to try and be careful with what we share because there’s so much AI video out there.

It’s just the world we live in now.

It simply should not be possible for the president to repeatedly claim that a major city is burning without a wall of live standups happening in that city clearly demonstrating that it is not

Every comic cover since has been trying and failing to reach the heights glimpsed by this Carmine Infantino cover for Flash #133 in 1962. You may not like it but this is what peak performance looks like
Flash being turned into a puppet while thinking "I've got the strangest feeling I'm being turned into a PUPPET!". FUN FACT: it is impossible to see this cover and not want to see more

Requires quick timing!

She's getting more used to it, she used to hide for 15+ minutes after it rang, now it's more like five.

Pets are commonly food Hoovers but I frequently have to remind mine there is fresh food in her dish and she does not need to yell at me, eat the fixtures and fittings, etc.

Anyway you can read 'Saturn's Children' by Charles Stross instead which has a similar plot and protagonist and is almost certainly a lot better.

Heinlein has his admirers and I don't think they're full of shit but his stuff is Kryptonite to me.

lrp I haven't read 'Friday' but I did once pull a copy of the shelf at a friend's house, read the first page, say 'Oh fuck off' and put it back.

FRIDAY (1982)
Acrylic - 30” x 20”

Robert Heinlein does create memorable characters!

Not even halfway through this book, I had a nearly photographic image of Friday in my mind. By the time I finished, I felt confident about the substance and approach my painting would have. 1/4
A woman in a blue denim jumpsuit stands in front of a view of space as seen through a gold trimmed porthole. The central zipper of her outfit is drawn down to her waist exposing bare skin. Her short cropped, sandy blonde hair has a slight curl. Her eyes reflect vibrant blue set in a gaze directly forward. The silhouette of a planet can be seen in the round viewport behind her. A star emerges from behind the planet and flares above her right shoulder. A moon with bright crescent highlight hangs over her left shoulder.

We don’t use AI for subtitles. Every line is carefully timed and translated by real people (who cry during finales and debate Best Girls, just like you).
