If you're wondering how this will go Square Enix handed off their mobile Octopath game to NetEase who immediately started using ChatGPT to translate everything resulting in text like this. When players complained they started asking fans to fix their translations in exchange for in-game currency

An in-game message featuring awkward language ("due to unmet conditions, the story of the new continent Solistia Chapter cannot be started") and ending with "if there is more text or additional content you want translated, please feel free to provide it!"

Because SE's QA people are probably not in a position to defend themselves and their jobs in public, I want to spell out some of what it is they specifically do for us localizers, because nothing I've written here is rhetorical. SE QA acts as a final check on our work after translation and editing.

You don't need me to tell you this is yet more good money being burned after bad. But as someone who's worked with that QA team, I'll say they're unsung heroes who truly play a huge role in maintaining SE's reputation for high quality locs and to attempt to replace them with AI is deeply insulting.

The 2002 RTS game "Hooligans: Storm Over Europe" features a Pikachu toy in one of the FMV cutscenes with no attempt to hide it.

As there is no record of legal action against this game from Nintendo or The Pokémon Company. I have to assume that their lawyers are scared of football hooligan firms.

Just like the GM Sniper, I decided to fully paint the rifle because it looks so sad otherwise. I am really really happy with how it turned out. I need to touch up a few spots and actually top coat but that will be another day. Into the display case for safety for now lol
