Chicago Pope is going to say some things we all dislike because he is the Pope and still very Catholic but he is spending enough time poking directly at the worst Catholics alive that I’m ready to put him in the Pretty Good For A Pope bucket already

also the sports jersey thing is incredibly funny
why would he come for online trads like this

Almost fell for a scam call today, and realised that if I simply never picked up the phone, I'd easily avoid loads of potential scammers

You can’t even use SNAP to buy a hot rotisserie chicken unless you live in a state with a special waiver.
ROB SCHMITT: People are using SNAP benefits to get their nails done, to get their weaves and their hair. This is a really ugly program.

SEN. RON JOHNSON: That program needs to be dramatically reformed.

A good example of the USA doing one thing abroad whilst championing something else at home. Yes, it's a big country encompassing a very wide range of views and daily trying to accommodate those views but this feels a really odd position to get into

As hypocrisy goes...it's up there

Read the thread
Nor me! And the article goes on to describe how the US has championed international laws against child marriage still- while still allowing it at home. It’s such a mixed up place….

Would it shock you to learn that Irish Times readers have anecdotes at the ready about great meals they've eaten On The Continent, and are keen to share them?

There are loads to things to say about the Presidential Election but fundamentally in Ireland there is one vote that really matters and that was for the Dail.
“If this was, as Harris framed it, a referendum on Ireland’s proud history of better-things-aren’t-possible centrism, then surely he must accept that his conceptualisation of Ireland is actually… wrong.”

This week’s column is about how FG and FF have responded to the election results.
Surrealing in the Years: Sorry Simon, maybe Ireland doesn't want to be a 'centrist' country
Hey, I didn’t make the rules.

Only a matter of time before someone is killed.
Firefighters rescued five people, including three children under ten, from the top floor of an Ipas centre in Drogheda last night after a major fire.

Gardaí have preserved the scene while the cause of the blaze is investigated.

It’s getting harder and harder to avoid concluding that the people who keep voting for shitty people are shitty people themselves.

interior design where you're just randomly pressing buttons for yellow gold, white marble, and crystal chandelier to remind everyone you're very rich
What I want to know is why 10% of the 75% turnout in the 1937 plebiscite, that approved Dev's constitution and created the Presidency, spoiled their vote? Did anybody care then, does anybody care now?
It pains me to have to talk about this again but presenting this as an "elephant in the room" is bizarre. The spoiled votes have got as much coverage and media attention as the actual winner, and it's baffling this is still being discussed let alone claimed as underanalysed
A total of 213,738 people spoiled their vote in the recent Presidential Election, and questions remain as to why so many people chose to do so, writes Juliette Gash.
