If your company is worth billions, but you have employees on SNAP, that should be considered wage theft.

If you make your workers come in at random hours or a rotating schedule, that should be considered a full time job because the company is fully controlling their schedule.

The Walton family (who own Walmart) are worth over $400 billion, yet many of their employees are on SNAP.

Bezos is worth over $400 billion, many Amazon employees require SNAP.

The people who need help are not the problem.

It’s corporate greed. It’s an unwillingness to pay a living wage.

If I were running the DNC, there would be Democratic Party sponsored food relief banks across the country right now that specifically welcomed anyone regardless of party affiliation.

Feeding America has a page where you can input your zip code and it'll show you all of the food banks near you overlaid on a map. If you need it, it's there. If you don't need it, think about donating money if you have it and your time if you don't.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but if you have friends struggling through the shutdown, consider inviting them over for a family dinner this week. Make too much. Insist they take leftovers home. Some folks can't say they need help out loud but will appreciate the kindness.

During the pandemic when schools districts in our area were delivering food to school kids via the bus system, they were actually even accommodating allergies and conditions like Celiac. I saw a system where we cared about every child... and I saw what our government could do for its citizens.

With SNAP being lost at the end of the week I keep thinking about how we almost ended food insecurity in children when we had the COVID checks. The US government could ensure every child was safe by investing in Americans, but the president is investing in other countries and ballrooms instead.

Hero’s of the day - In a small town of Beckley, WV, Kendra Sullivan staged a one-woman No Kings protest. She was confronted, had the police called on her, but stood her ground. She was physically threatened. Police came more than once and protected her right to protest. This is how we do it.
