QUESTION: Why did it take so long to invent self-trimming wicks?!??
Candles have been used for thousands of years, but the self-trimming wick was only invented in the 1800s.
Was it dependent on some other technology or material? What took so long?
I am perplexed!

Most of civil society doesn’t ask absolute questions like this, especially on questions of health. If you say “So I should wear a seatbelt FOREVER??” Or “so I can NEVER smoke in this preschool classroom?” People will rightly look at you like you’ve gone round the bed.
