and *none* of this is to criticize the craftsmanship here! both the creative and the design can be excellent executions of a thing that is just not for me. honestly from the limited amount they previews, that description looks like this set fits that to a t(mnt).

so i hope its audience loves it.

i am taking forsythe's advice and only caring about the sets that interest me. this leaves insurmountable obstacles to engagement with standard.

if that leads me to spend less time caring about magic overall, i guess that's fine.

and honestly, i've given up on ever getting back into standard. i don't want to have to care about ninja turtle combo engines or superhero midrange. it feels enough like a blend of many not-magic things for me that i don't want to engage at all.

these cards look mechanically interesting so this isn't quite the spiderman set imo. i'm definitely interested in picking up a few of these cards and might even open a few packs.

but the theme and property here? this is another set that is not for me.

when someone first explained carbon offsets to me i thought "oh so they put 16 bajillion tons of co2 into the air and then they pay someone to take 16 bajillion tons out of the air, and that's how they plan to get to net zero."

then someone explained it to me and that's when i knew it was a scam.

this novel is the only experience i have with warhammer lore but even going in ignorant, listening to the audiobook was a ton of fun. *much* better than licensed fiction usually turns out to be.

obviously making up an organization that doesn't exist is a great way to build a pretext to go after whoever you want, but all the same i'm vaguely curious how they're going to follow up this "girlfriend" thing. because it's an obvious lie, and any decent journalist would dig through it instantly.
