Good on @cmtmosqueda.bsky.social calling out that painting bus lanes isn't the thing that causes construction impacts, it's the full street rebuilds we pair with bus lanes

Special education isn't a "nice thing to have." It isn't "charity" or doing something to make us feel better. It is a right. The right to a Free Appropriate Public Education is codified in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, signed by a Republican president.

If any child in your life has an IEP or 504 plan:

Trump fired (we think) all of the employees in the office at the US Department of Education that disburses special education funds from the federal government that school districts use to pay for those plans.

The Port of Seattle, which runs Sea-Tac International Airport, is governed by a five-member commission elected by and representing the citizens of King County, WA. This is what democracy looks like.
Sea-Tac won’t air Noem video blaming shutdown on Democrats
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport won’t broadcast a video of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem saying Democrats caused the federal government shutdown.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

Downtown could have "like, a 10-foot wall" where people could talk to AI versions of historical figures. "How cool would this be if we had like, a 10 foot wall. It's interactive and it's historical. And you could talk to Martin Luther King."...

I look at what Mayor Hidalgo has achieved in Paris, and I think that, and some of the mayors in Spanish cities, progressive, socialist mayors in Spanish cities, and the transformation of public space into walkable, people-oriented places where you want to be, it’s just so important. I really think that’s definitely going to be a big focus of my administration because if you travel to places like that where that kind of transformation has been achieved, you just feel like, “This is a place that I want to hang out.” It makes me feel good. It makes me feel like part of the city. I can meet people, talk to people, and there’s so much potential in Seattle for creating more of those spaces, and Ca
