EXCLUSIVE: A cell-site simulator, commonly referred to as an IMSI-catcher or "Stingray," may have been used at the ICE facility in Portland.

Analysis of cellular signals in the area showed phones receiving abnormal spikes in requests for their unique identifiers. san.com/cc/exclusive...

Personal news in the midst of
💫everything💫

It’s my last week at my favorite newspaper in Portland, @streetroots.bsky.social. I’m proud of the work we’ve done the past few years and can’t wait to see what’s next.

Excited to join my second favorite newspaper @portlandmercury.com later this month!

It’s important to remember that Zenith’s air permit is not simply the result of some neutral administrative processes and an “aw shucks that’s just how the law is” situation.

Zenith has been the beneficiary of *repeated* political interventions, including most recently, Mayor Wilson.
soupmuse.bsky.social
Reminder Mayor Wilson rushed to approve Zenith’s land compatibility at the start of his tenure over the objections of Councilors Green and Morillo.

Whether the fuel is so-called “renewable” or not will make very little difference in a liquefaction zone when the river is on fire.

Next week City Council will hear a pair of legislation that formally denounces the Trump Administration's attempt to terrorize our city with militarized units, while codifying Sanctuary City status protections. Portlanders have been waiting for a formal expression of City's Council will on this.

Good morning to everyone except the lady who almost bumped me with her car because she thought a California Roll was sufficient for the red light on Cesar Chavez.

Please be mindful that people DO use the crosswalk and I hope to never touch the hood of your SUV ever again

This video is a long time coming.

People always ask me: what makes Montreal so ambitious on urbanism? (At least for bikes and pedestrians.)

I've been thinking through this and asking Montrealers, and in this video I want to cover *part* of the answer.

Someone showed up with a cart of inflatables. The protest is now a dance party outside the PDX ICE facility. Federal police have mostly stood back but did unleash a toxin into the air @nbcnews.com

TIL that making the buses faster is “ruining the city”

sam is the east coast version of armand domalewski: he's well connected and wealthy; he's desperate to align with power, marketing himself as "just a smol bean guy;" and he's hellbent on ruining the city in which he *currently* lives for other, long term residents

I would pay to have a regional railway network around Montréal like Sydney has. I would probably go visit some new corners of QC every other weekend.

Do we have a plausible theory why Australia went all in on electric suburban trains from the 1920s, but Canada didn't?

LEURA, 108km from Central, is another charming station - everything is so charming up in the Blue Mountains - serving retail strip of cute cafes and shops popular with tourists. It has two platforms cut into the sandstone, accessed from an overhead concourse on a road bridge, with a lift. (1/3)

To further litigate an off-topic pet peeve though - Oregon's public meetings law prevents the sponsor(s) of legislation from soliciting and gathering co-sponsors in advance beyond a quorum. This is a perfect example of an item that should be co-sponsored by the entire council at this agenda stage.

Looks like yet another late night at next week's evening Portland City Council meeting -- but in a good way this time. #WarRavagedPortland fights back.
Two big agenda items on next Wednesday evening's City Council agenda: a resolution denouncing attempts to deploy the military, and an ordinance to specifically codify sanctuary city protections.
