I apologize but I have a silly request. Could I sell 2 art books? Im attempting to leave the house by going to st augustine with mom and I'd love to get some jerky and popcorn. It's not a necessity, I will survive without them! But it's tradition to get them there. Thank you!

Ironically, I've noticed a lot more fully illustrated and custom animated advertisements. I'm like whoa... what is this? 1890? Haha. They are really nice and eyecatching. Ya think they'd pay me a month's earnings for one? Like in the 1960s? Those illustrations paid the bills...

More people should definitely know this. It's obvious why we don't, but still. It's probably hard to let people know bc it's probably embarassing and they probably "don't want you to say anything". But people sign up for the benefits and they might not get them. Already the VA is struggling.

as a single guy that made rank pretty quickly until I got stuck at E-5, I felt like I was doing pretty well but then I saw my buddies w/ families, even the ones on base housing where they didn't have to pay for that struggling...I always had at least 1 roommate to split bills/rent with.

Honestly this is surprising to me too. Everyone I know joined because they didn't have any money. I thought they'd totally get a ton of money, too. Or at least the "1 dollar house" thing. Like, ur house is so cheap bc ur military. Wild to think you'd enlist and still be poor. no reason to sign up.

Every enlisted wife I've known was on food stamps/WIC for at least the first few years, because the promotions didn't make up for the cost of another kid.

It's just like the grad school wives, though they often have stable employment (which means better pay) because they don't move all the time.

According to my parents who were in the army at the time, this happened during the first government shutdown under Carter, then everyone realized what a horrible idea it was not to pay soldiers. This is the first time in decades that no allowance has been made for military pay.

ICE secretly kidnap autistic boy during bathroom break—never notify parents.

Mother reported him missing a week ago—turns out ICE had him detained the whole time.

He was helping sell fruit and asked to go to the restroom—by the time she was done helping a customer he was gone.
