Well, everything here technically comes from somewhere else. But that doesn't mean it's not American now. Like we are colonized. So yeah we made jazz and banjo and rap and country and jean pants. Because it didn't exist before African people in America made it. There's no reason to separate it.
I once got in an argument with a Norwegian coworker who said that America never created any real culture. I pointed out things like jazz and he was like “but really that’s African and Caribbean,” so finally I landed on ranch dressing, and I am proud to confirm that we got that goin for us

I have been thinking and talking about Israel my whole life, and have taught about Israel, Palestine, and the Middle East since 2008, well before TikTok existed. I can attest that young Americans’ opinion of Israel has gotten more negative over that time, and the main reason is Israel’s actions.
Also apropos nothing else, public opinion was turning against Israel before TikTok went mainstream

I was just thinking this at the pharmacy yesterday. Instead of just "get your flu shot" they should also say the number of people that died from the flu in this country last year. It will make people realise how these shots should be free and we should all get them. I can't get one bc its not free.
This has been my frustration with convincing people to get the flu shot *for years* now. Every article about flu was a photo of a shot in an arm, not people dying from it, not someone looking awful while sick with it. It made it hard to convince people to get the vaccine.

Couldn't agree more--I went with a pic of the disease in a recent measles story, but it was admittedly a little tricky to find a suitable option for our website (some stock images seemed photoshopped?) More legit photos of kids with measles, people in iron lungs, etc. need to be out there
