scary sea-weathered saint on the church near Hartlepool headland (body of saint is heavily eroded down to a veined or boxwork-like underlying structure of the stone, which looks like weird branching fungus).

The concept of the 'deserving poor' is capitalist poison. Your worth isn't determined by how hard you fight or how much you suffer. My worth is non-negotiable. Aid isn't a reward for being a 'good' survivor; it’s a necessary tool for being an alive survivor. Solidarity disregards the purity test.

Was just at a neighborhood school at dismissal. Hundreds of people with whistles surrounding the school and stationed down every block making sure ICE doesn’t snatch anyone. The same is happening at all the schools around here. I love my neighborhood and I love Chicago.

Today is World Homeless Day, and after years reporting on this crisis, I'll just say: homelessness is neither inevitable nor intractable. It's the result of choices—political, economic, moral—that can be unmade.

And this: how we treat the unhoused is a bellwether for the violence we will tolerate.

my body has swung through so many sizes and shapes over the last 5 years and I stopped investing in quality pieces because of that.

on the other side of top surgery and content in a workout routine I guess I don't have any old barriers left to keep me from changing that (save for cash lol) and yet
