Don’t like genocide. Here for memes and the news
Sounds like a right wing caricature of wokeness
Some nonprofit organizations have been trying to suppress the rapid response tactics that have emerged from LA, Chicago, and the Twin Cities.

ICE is kidnapping hundreds of thousands of people, ruining their lives. This is not a situation in which non-profits should be suppressing effective tactics.

Does it make sense for the SDF to expect US help considering all the times they failed in the past? I don’t believe this explanation
"Analysts say the Syrian Democratic Forces miscalculated, taking a hard stance in negotiations with Damascus on the assumption that if a military conflict erupted between them, Washington would support the SDF as it had for years when they battled the Islamic State group"

“Why you put giant apo flag in raqqa? that is going to piss the moderates” vs “no, not isis flag, it’s just pious muslims”
After ten years of fighting ISIS,
ISIS is returning today under the cover of the Damascus government in Raqqa.
Where are the countries that claimed to fight ISIS?
Where are the alliances and the stances?
Or were all those slogans nothing but empty words?

Meanwhile, here in Shaddadi, not far from a US bases, the regime is actively destroying the graves of heroes who fell fighting ISIS.

Imagine the propaganda boost for ISIS: the graves of those who fought them are desecrated, while their terrorists are being freed

I grew up hearing stories from my father about how folks abducted by Franco’s secret police would routinely “escape” to the roof of police HQ and “commit suicide.” The obviousness of the lie was itself an intimidation tactic.
"agents told hospital staff that Castaneda Mondragon ... 'purposefully ran headfirst into a brick wall.'”
A Minnesota man received a life-threatening injury while in ICE custody. It's not clear how he got injured because his memory and ability to communicate are so severely impaired. Agents said "he got his shit rocked." Wild story from @katrinapross.bsky.social sahanjournal.com/health/ice-d...

Seeming like the Shammar Sanadid Forces have defected from the SDF to the govt, meaning the YPG has lost its earliest Arab ally (dating back to 2013)... also means DAANES loses a big chunk of Arab populated areas at the end of the M4 on Iraqi border (between Rmeilan and Ya'rubiyah)

Much still remains to be seen but the SDF's entire to approach to many Arab communities - cooption of certain tribes, clans or individuals within tribes - was a built on quicksand. Loyalty based on disempowered personal gain not able to withstand the symbolic legitimacy of the new regime.

One of the things about people showing up to protest for the first time, that many, many armchair theorists don't grasp, is the effect of seeing what happens with your own eyes, then seeing how media covers it, and what is said ABOUT YOU by media and political personalities/office holders.
This dude is intense and correct

Now that he won I can say it without guilt: I really dislike the rhetoric, it’s too forceful, too tacky, sounds like a tv commercial for beer or whatever. Could he have won without it?
