I reported a dangerous downed live wire over 14 hours ago. The wires are sitting on soaked earth, tangled in a tree, and draped over a vehicle. I am afraid for my own safety, as well as the safety of my neighbours. NSP claims this is not a priority

Canadian friends: here's a petition to stop AB and SK from Notwithstanding their anti-trans-healthcare legislation (this will make sense to Canadians). Don't let them shield their bigotry from Charter scrutiny!

The vaccine will keep you from getting sickER once you’re infected. The respirator (N95 or better) prevents infection.

I’m a strong skeptic when it comes to data. I try to stay away from purchasing goods that connect to the internet.
Amazon is selling your Ring data to Flock which is deeply involved in surveillance of immigrants, women seeking abortions. Flock shares this data with 🚔

I'm always shocked when I go to a hospital and no one is wearing a mask (except the employees). I get breast MRIs because I'm very high risk for cancer and no one ever wears a mask! Those places are filled with cancer patients!

Masking when *you* are ill has a very good effect on decreasing transmission to others.

It’s basic consideration.
One thing we learned through COVID is how many selfish people live in this country. Countries in East Asia care more for their fellow citizens & mask up automatically.

Funny how “take your vitamins” is a common refrain during “cold and flu” season, but “wear a mask” is not.

Reminders, as public health officials warn of a very bad flu season:

🧵

* Washing hands is not a strategy for a respiratory virus. N95s, ventilation, air filtration -- especially in hospitals.

* We should have been cleaning indoor air with the same effort we put into cleaning drinking water.

Winnipeg to backtrack on rules protecting birds in new construction. Window strikes kill 40 million birds in Canada annually, a billion+ across North America. The price of preventing this? Basically rounding errors on construction costs. But hey. Affordability. 😡 #Birds 🪶

Really love how this guy posted this on TikTok thinking the woman who broke his Meta glasses would come off as the villain, as opposed to him, the guy recording her without her consent for social media content via a surveillance device made by one of the worst companies on earth

🙏🏾I worry too. I'm an engineer because of École Polytechnique and December 6. I was 16 years old on that day, the day a murderer walked into an engineering class saying he hated women & killed our brightest and best in cold blood.

His manifesto had items that sound like the hate I receive today. 1/

I get comments like, "DEI - didn’t earn it" and lectures on "merit". The murderer thought he didn’t get into engineering school and couldn't get a job because of women.

So don't talk to me about how things are better. My life as a Black woman and a vocal, visible professional is at risk daily. 2/2

I literally saw women in my community’s Facebook group saying we should move this to another day because December is a month for “celebration” and people are too busy with “other things” 🤯
Today is Canada's National Day of Action & Remembrance on Violence against Women. It marks the day in 1989 when 14 women at Polytechnique in Montreal were murdered by an "incel" (Proving that shit has a new name but is an old problem.)

There are vigils across the country today. Please attend one.

Cyber security, MTB and birb videos, music. Me in a nutshell. Not sure why it’s classing MTB vids as hiking adventures—pretty positive I’ve never watched a video of anyone hiking!

Drivers, please don’t try and wave us through. It’s dangerous. Cyclists, what I find works is to calmly summon all the authority you can and point-and-sweep at them with an outstretched arm like a traffic cop. Large, confident motions. It’s a language they understand
Three drivers tried to wave us through this crossing while blocking me from view for drivers in the other lanes of travel. Even if it's safe, I often refuse to go—little eyes are watching & she needs to learn how to cross safely & not trust that cars will stop. #yycbike
