An interested layperson foolishly tackling the incumbency most entrenched in just about every aspect of our lives: alternating current electricity in buildings.

(I saw a post about a data center line having to 'fill in a wetland' and someone said "how do you temporarily fill in a wetland" and the answer it turns out is: pretty easily, it's a regular part of construction)

It goes without saying that PJM should not be interconnecting data centers when system reliability cannot be assured:

No more PJM data centers unless they can be reliably served: market monitor
The PJM Interconnection’s market monitor urged the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to rule that large data centers can only come online if the grid operator can still meet reliability metrics.

But this issue isn't new. Industry has struggled to manage the risks of lead recycling since the early 20th c, when Alice Hamilton first helped spotlight the issue.

The petro-dollar is dead. Long live the electro-dollar.

In this op-ed, I tried to explore the idea that if the present is electric and the future is even more electric, then it makes sense for electricity to be the foundation of the economy.
Electricity is about to become the new base currency and China figured it out

Very cool. Some here in the states do this: @energysmartwv.bsky.social
(I couldn’t remember the name of your conversion Airbnb). His other non-RV Airbnbs are also electrified and awesome!!
Heat pump for the win. @janrosenow.bsky.social always says you can heat a tent with a heat pump. Well, I can confirm you can very comfortably keep a vintage caravan warm with one in a snowy windy night. 🔌💡

Dear media of the world,
When an autocrat admiring the aggressor sits with the aggressor and together they write up the terms on which the victim should surrender, it's not a peace plan/proposal, much less a peace deal.
Stop parroting the autocrat!

Nationwide average prices for industrial customers are slightly less than half of residential prices. That's before special negotiated discounts for the largest loads. We pay double or more, in other words.

Strong relationship here between wholesale electricity price and how close you are to a data center.

We reallly need to see data centers bringing their own (clean) energy with them
