After 3am thought: I miss fireflies. As a kid, at 3am, they'd be everywhere. In the moonlight with them blinking away, it was childhood magic. F*ck you boomers for denying global climate change.

I see it as a trauma response. Flight, fight, or fawn. Stede's bully reinforces his past trauma while in the middle of creating another traumatic event. This is part of why Ed never learning what happened bothers me. It's Ed's trauma, too. They're never allowed to talk it through as a crew of two.

OFMD needs a s3 because I still get upset that canonically Ed doesn't know Stede was captured at gunpoint by his boyhood bully, torn apart, then witnessed his death. He didn't just leave Ed at the docks!!!
