I changed my handle, as I own the domain ‘64ordle.au’ which is quicker to type than ‘catherine-cowie.bsky.social’.

I hope y’all understand. The current avatar photo was taken on 4 July 2022, and the banner picture more recently at a TMBG concert – a funny thing happened on the way to the forum …
Right to left: me, my brother, and his husband, at the Forum in Melbourne on 11 October 2024. Behind us, a Romanesque statue of Heracles wearing the skin of the Nemean lion(?) and the wall is painted blue and bathed in blue light to simulate the sky around an open amphitheatre. I am making a silly gesture towards the statue’s strategically placed fig leaf. My brother is looking sternly upwards at Herakles, almost in profile. And my brother-in-law has an unreadable expression looking three-quarters towards the phone, which might be, ‘am I related to these people now?’

I don’t think Aristophanes is really that fussed these days on how many bre-ke-ke-kes you ribbet.

Sorry, repeat. I think he’d be cheering on the frogs!

Even the list of illustrations on that page is illuminating, as whatever Frank–Eunice, Angelo–Phyllis, and Jennie were up to in Stuyvesant Sq or the Bowery, they were fully aware that they were /not/ a new phenomenon, out of time. They were fully aware that there were others like them in past times.

Great.

I appear to be in BlueSky moderation jail because of the image import—from of all places, Wikipedia—being tagged as ‘explicit sexual imagery’.
64ordle.au
I wonder whether BlueSky will have similar conniptions about the ancient statue, now usually referred to as ‘Sleeping Hermaphaditus’.

Remember, this is a /statue/.

There’s a Wikipedia article for Jennie June (BSky moderation immediately slapped an ‘adult content’ warning on the preview picture, grr…)

This is a riot. I strongly suspect the editor of the Medico-Legal Journal had to render the racier anatomical passages into Latin to avoid infringing the Comstock Act. (Yes, that Comstock Act.)

Alright I need a short story break before I dive back into another gargantuan anthology, so let's read one of the oldest transfemme books I'm aware of!

Autobiography of an Androgyne is one of the earliest "trans memoirs," published a solid 15 years before the commonly cited 'first' trans memoir.

Totes agree. Twin peaks of androgyny.

Alt text! Not for the whole video, but at least for one of the most interesting frames...

Bless you all, Portland. And curse you for making me work out the alt text for this specific image.
People dressed up as a shark, some kind of white dog, and... maybe a peacock? Or colourful turkey?

Text overlay: After our interview, the frogs were joined by a couple of unicorns, a polar bear, an axolotl, a raccoon, and several more characters.

It’s grim when the coroner directly sheets blame for a suicide (one of many) to the FUCKING INHUMANE anti-trans policies of the UK Labour Party.

CORONER’S CONCERNS

During the course of the inquest the evidence revealed matters giving rise to concern. In my opinion there is a risk that future deaths could occur unless action is taken. In the circumstances it is my statutory duty to report to you.

The MATTERS OF CONCERN are as follows. – Waiting lists are far too long for first appointment at a Gender Dysphoria clinic.
6	ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN

In my opinion action should be taken to prevent future deaths and I believe you [AND/OR your organisation] have the power to take such action

The version on the Patreon is unchanged since June—I downloaded it again and it’s identical, for what it’s worth.

I downloaded it in June from Patreon, for what it’s worth…

Very likely—I notice in the PDF the wrapping of text beside the book cover image has also gone skewiff.
A blurb for the novel Welcome to Dorley Hall, where the text of the blurb has badly wrapped around an image of the book’s cover.

Font weirdness is appreciated, and the tight kerning is generally good!

However, the first ‘e’ in Welcome needs to be a lot more comfortable, coming in close underneath the serif of the W.
64ordle.au
Maybe something along the lines of a Dorleypilled-style attempt at brainworm decontamination protocols!

(We know the vast majority of detransitioners do so because of social pressure being exerted upon them; believing all the internalised transphobia is one possible response to such pressure.)

I really wish I’d known Rani better, rather than in across multiple social media sites where interactions are so fleeting.

Rest in power.

It's been two years today since we lost the great Rani Baker and I've been thinking about her a lot lately. Online just hasn't been the same without her.

She was my friend and now she's gone. What more can you say about that?
Cover to one of Rani's albums - Gender Identity Witch by Destroyed For Comfort.

Cover art shows a slightly distorted photo of her face with what appears to be a burning camper van in the background

I’ve been doing a little bit of beta-reading on this novel, based on Alyson Greaves’ novel of existential alienation (kimmy), and it’s marvellous.

The first chapter starts here: archiveofourown.org/works/69597136

Thank you! I may have written nearly 50k of it since September … but I am running in a distant third place behind two other writers… (@ellis-ralsei.bsky.social and @taralynirl.bsky.social)

And hey, one of the early chapters of (kimmy) actually quotes the words ‘Man-machine interface?’ (Eleven).

Something is in the air…

(In terms of the earlier work, you may not be aware that the quantity of Kimmy-verse fanfic has tripled since mid-August, as well.)

After a millennia of enmity between England and France, you should be able to guess that the English pronunciation is *nothing* like ‘nous’, ‘tous’, or ‘vous’…

It rhymes with ‘house’.
64ordle.au
Rhymes with ‘house’ though!
