You all followed me at the other place but I have a different handle here so now just talk to myself.

Also, that policy outcome you want is downstream of good land use policy and housing affordability.
Seems bad
We spent a year investigating billionaires for @washingtonpost.com.

We found: the wealthiest 100 Americans gave $1.1 billion to influence the 2024 elections — 140x more than they did in 2000. And almost all of that giving boosted Republicans.

@chrislhayes.bsky.social just accidentally called @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social “Mayor-an Mamdani” and it totally works.

Mamdani cannot be knocked off message.
Reporter to Mamdani (mocking): "Why did you fly here? Aren't trains greener?"

Mamdani (with tolerant smile): "I will use every form of transit, and I want to make sure they're affordable in NYC."

Man, this was such a key advocacy win back in 2018. The critical stretch of Central Ave could have had unprotected bike lanes and even sharrows at Webster. Now construction is finally close to complete. #LongGame

Such little brother vibes from Trump. Can’t believe they allowed this side by side.

Ranked choice now.
There are now 9 Democrats that will have money to compete or some built-in support. (Swalwell, Steyer, Porter, Becerra, Villaraigosa, Yee, Thurmond, Calderon, Cloobeck)
There are exactly two Republicans.
The latest poll had the Republicans within 2 points of being 1-2.

The War Nerd: Why Sherman was right to burn Atlanta
KUWAIT CITY — There are times when the sheer ignorance and ingratitude of the American public makes you sick. This week marks the 150th anniversary of Sherman’s March from Atlanta to the Sea, which...

It’s like a speeding cop pursuing a suspect who is escaping on foot and intentionally running the suspect over with your car, then running over them over again to be sure.
When historians look back at this era, they will read things like this and wonder how it all happened. A legal opinion comparing extrajudicial killings to police exceeding speed limits. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/13/u...

Oh, so now it’s not okay for a prosecutor to chat with the grand jury without a court reporter. What kind of surveillance state are we in?

Noise is the primary area where I sympathize with NIMBYs. People aren’t loud. Cars (and pickleball) are loud.
Zoning Practice magazine devotes an entire issue to *checks notes* pickleball noise

Starting to think Senate democrats are not going to be the ones to save us.
The original Dem demands were:
1) Permanent ACA subsidies
2) Medicaid funding restored
3) No more blank checks for the regime (rescission)

They dropped Medicaid immediately. Went silent on rescission. Cut back to 1 year of subsidies on Friday. And surrendered today.

The Senate Democrats!

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)
