What's glossed over a bit here is it took this guy who proved it like 25 years and a huge community push and tons of advocacy to make this happen. Same with guy who figured out you should wash hands before surgery. We think "why should all this obvious shit be so hard?" But it's ALWAYS been hard

I really fell off of submitting my original short stories to places at the end of last year after a weird rejection that got a little under my skin. But today I started sending them out again! Let’s do this!!!

On 29th January 1996, "Threshold", the Star Trek: Voyager episode where Captain Janeway and Tom Paris turned into giant space newts and had babies first aired. Since it's #ThresholdDay we aim to answer a burning question: did Paris and Janeway fuck? If so, how did they fuck?

You know that moment near the beginning of Home Alone where the mom is trying to get Kevin to go upstairs and he says he hopes he never sees her again for the rest of his life? And Catherine O’Hara’s face hardly changes but somehow communicates just how heartbroken she is? Anyway, she was a genius.

I got a couple of beautiful, thoughtful, and detailed comments on two of my fics today. They truly made my day, and I loved reading them so much. 💕

Leave the comment, friends. It means everything.

I really need Democratic lawmakers to understand that we're fed up with them simply posting on social media "this has to stop" without calling for specific actions to make it stop.

We know this needs to stop. We elected you. Tell us what needs to be done to make it stop.

This is, in my opinion, not only the correct moral/ethical/legal position but also the correct political framing. Everyone can see the agency is out of control; everyone can see that it is constantly violating human rights. "Scrap it and start over" is the moderate position.
Mamdani: "I am in support of abolishing ICE. What we see is an entity that has no interest in fulfilling its stated reason to exist. We're seeing a government agency that is supposed to be enforcing some kind of immigration law, but instead what it's doing is terrorizing people."

If you haven't seen it yet, please, please do. It'll hit streaming early next month, and screenings will keep happening for at least several more months.
Almost a year since @thelibrariansfilm.bsky.social premiered at Sundance. I still haven’t fully wrapped my head around being part of a documentary that’s meant so much to our profession and has taken me around the world. What a whirlwind year. Grateful and blessed.

I don't know what to say any more. My perspective is clear, but my power to effect real change is murky. Horrors upon horrors in this country and the world... but also I have to pack lunch for tomorrow. Raising a child with hope is surely a political act. It might be the best one I can do for now.

Robert Picardo gets it ❤️🖖
Long before the term existed, Star Trek's heart was "woke" & even though that word has been hijacked & made a cudgel to insult, to ridicule & - at the toxic extremes of social media - to justify prejudice & racism, Star Trek's heart is strong & still beating for those listening

There's this episode of Star Trek where Captain Picard is captured and tortured, and the main way that the torturer tries to break him is by showing him four lights, and telling him that there are five.

There are four lights.

This is not a post about Star Trek.
