Something that I feel has been missed in the discussion of A’ja Wilson’s greatness is that the payoff of her ascent is earned.

Four years to the day since being blocked by Brittney Griner with a series on the line, Wilson’s game three game winner marks the completion of her hero’s journey.
With A WNBA Finals Game Winner In Hand, A'ja Wilson's Ascent Is Now Complete
There's no question about it now. One win away from a third WNBA title in four years and on the heels of a Game Three game winning jumper, A'ja Wilson is officially the undisputed best in the world.

Never a boring night in this league lmfao

That’s always the Faustian bargain lol because ultimately we are rooting for more capitalism at the end of the day on some level

I thought Tamika’s point on workaround equity in the NBA was fascinating because that’s the capitalist answer to the problem. I hope the PA doesn’t get suckered into that

I think what makes it so unique is the total lack of historical analog for what’s happening. I don’t think there’s been an environment where athletes of this caliber are still so closely aligned with a normal American worker and their experience since maybe…the 70’s or 80’s? Maybe?

This was a fantastic listen. And kinda dense; I was multitasking and missed stuff and had to rewind a few times. But a ton of great insight here.

To say the Las Vegas Aces' Kierstan Bell has been on a journey in the WNBA would be an understatement.

Amidst the outside noise, she persevered into now playing a legit role for a Las Vegas team that is one win away from a WNBA Championship.

A Key Contributor Now, Aces Guard Kierstan Bell Gets The Last Laugh
The once ridiculed Las Vegas Aces bench player became an integral piece in the Aces midseason turnaround and is one win away from the sweetest championship in her career to date.

Lebron with sciatica? He just like me fr

LeBron James is out at least 3-4 weeks with sciatica on his right side, and will miss opening night

The Lakers say he will be re-evaluated in 3-4 weeks, which means he likely is out until early to mid-November. At least.

LeBron had yet to play in the preseason. This will be the first time in his 23-year career he has missed a season opener.

While it's easy for new fans of the game to assume A'ja Wilson has always been in the GOAT conversation, the reality is that the climb was anything but easy.

But knowing that backstory makes her game winner on Wednesday all the more meaningful.

That is a fascinating point. The WNBA/NBA actually made the conditions for what we're seeing now and it's like Tim Robinson in the hot dog costume like "we're all trying to find who did this!"

I realized that I wrote 4,000 words over the weekend on the WNBA's labor fight and missed the most important point:

In essence, this is a labor fight between a worker's coop (Unrivaled) vs. corporate monopoly (WNBA).

And if the players win, so can normal people too.

The Monday column is here!

On the Aces and the chase for dynasty status, what to do with Alyssa Thomas in game three of the WNBA Finals and why Napheesa Collier and Unrivaled may represent the most important labor movement of the post-COVID era.

ESPN deserves a lot of credit for how much they’ve upped their game on highlighting the pageantry of college football in the last few years.

These games *feel* so much bigger in the regular season now.
