Here's a fun thing I just learned: If you're a magazine or catalog or other bulk mailer who is willing to add AI-generated content to your mailing, USPS will reward you with a 5% discount—potentially many thousands of dollars!

How on earth does this benefit USPS? www.usps.com/business/pro...

Meanwhile on today's livestream of The Charlie Kirk Show, Kolvet was saying that Muslims all over the country were throwing public celebrations over the antisemitic Bondi Beach massacre and called Ahmed al-Ahmed a traitor and then played clips of Kirk saying Muslims should be banned from the West.

Grading and googling hallucinated citations, as one does nowadays, and now that LLMs have been around for a while, I've discovered new horrors: hallucinated journals are now appearing in Google Scholar with dozens of citations bc so many people are citing these fake things

This is fucking grim. Somebody invented a white guy, an "IT professional" named Edward Crabtree, who stopped the Bondi shooting and spread it all over the internet, which was picked up by AI agents and slop aggregation sites.

The real hero is a fruit stand owner named Ahmed el Ahmed.

Here's the full-circle scam

Ultra-wealthy PE's and bankers buy politicians who promise not to tax them

Politicians instead borrow from pension funds to pay for public infrastructure

Pension funds go insolvent and get stuck yield-chasing

Pension funds have to invest in funds managed by said PE's

The way you're taught that VC works is they fund 100 risky ventures and 99 of them fail. They lose money on those, in the hopes that the 1 that succeeds goes really big.

The reality is that VC looks a lot more like Ponzinomics. These guys make absolute BANK on failed moonshots.

How do VC's make money from failed bullshit? Fee structure. Say you're a VC with a 20% carry if the venture succeeds.

You ALSO have a guaranteed management fee of 2% of AUM per year. So you create a $1B "Deep Tech" fund, that's $20M a year. These sci-fi projects take 10 years to fail. That's $200M.

These ridiculous mega-projects like "datacenters in space" (doomed by thermodynamics) make a LOT more sense when you realize they're massive Ponzi schemes designed to transfer wealth from pension funds to VC's through "fee stacking."

It's the old Assets Under Management con. It should be illegal.
“.. Skeptics believe the technical risks are being underestimated and say space-based data centers won’t be competitive on cost, especially if power and other constraints ease on the ground.”

This is not complicated. They blew up a boat that posed no imminent threat and then killed the survivors. There's no legal regime on Earth worth a damn that wouldn't see that as murder, crimes against humanity, or war crimes, depending on the specific code in play.

One of the dilemmas of living through the second Trump administration is that saying these things out loud seems crazy. But yeah, the death penalty is an established, well-documented thing we have on the books for precisely these kinds of crimes; they obviously did it; and it's not hard to prove.
"the government should try, convict and then kill the secretary of defense for the crime he very obviously seems to have committed" seems like a radical thing to say, but -- no, it's not. it's the actual penalty for what pete hegseth, a man who ordered death squads to murder civilians, has done.
