Some thoughts on Wednesday-night’s tragic air accident near Washington, DC:

The mid-air collision of American Airlines flight 5342 and a US Army VH-60 helicopter is highly personal for me. It literally hits close to home as I live approximately three miles away from National Airport.

It does make one wonder how Disney is allowing this to happen when they have fought for copyright retention like no one else in America

Applying governmental pressure against private businesses was the kind of thing that would have once had "conservatives" howling. No more.

Trump's administration is following the fascist's handbook page-by-page and the Republicans march in lockstep behind him.

Free speech for me, cancel culture for thee...

Only now it's actual governmental suppression of free speech.

"Who watches the Watchmen?" is no longer a rhetorical question -- though it never really was.

John Roberts was placed as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court for one reason: dismantle the Voting Rights Act.

With this case coming to the Court, he can do that and also ensure America suffers from political oppression for a generation at least.

Stare decisis, my ass!

This is no more lawful than if the United States Navy boarded these vessels, arrest and cuff, the boats’ occupants, line them up on the bow, shoot them in the head and dump them overboard… because the results are exactly the same

Republican Rep. Cory Mills allegedly threatened to release nude images of a 26-year-old woman and to harm her future boyfriends after she ended their relationship.

Now, a judge just ordered Mills, 45, not to come within 500 feet of the defendant & ruled that she is “a victim of dating violence.”

Extraordinary NYT story:

Trump’s DOJ pressured out another US Attorney in WESTERN Virginia for finding that a grand jury probe his bosses demanded was unwarranted.

… as “the way things are” and don’t have the institutional knowledge to understand what has been lost.

With student turnover rates as high as 50% each year, those new restrictions can quickly become entrenched.

Advisors are the backbone in fighting those restrictions.

IU has failed its students.

There is a certain insidious part to censoring student newspapers that goes unnoticed initially.

Due to the intrinsic turnover of student staff as they progress to graduation, an institutional restriction can quickly become the new normal.

Incoming students more easily accept the new conditions…

These “cafeteria constitutionalists” need a reminder to respect all the amendments equally.

Appeasing authoritarian leaders never works.

If you give them an inch they’ll take 10 miles.

Standing up for students rights of free speech & free association are imperative in this political climate.

In the last 3 years, IU, Purdue, Penn State and my children’s high school have all openly attempted to silence student newspapers.

They use a number of coercive tactics including pulling funding, instituting editorial review, threatening eviction, limiting circulation & now firing student editors.

There is no reason for any citizen to trust any report originating with Kristi Noem, DHS, ICE or CBP

It really bothers me to say that our government is untrustworthy

But that is where we are now with Trump
