Coun. Nelson did it once or twice to delay passage of things. It’s more common that a motion to move to third reading passes unanimously, but it’s not a given or a guarantee.

It’s the process laid out in the Cities Act and it’s comes from the legislative process.

In 2022, Ken Sim said line item budget comparisons were the cornerstone of his budget policy if he got elected mayor.

In 2025, he voted against it happening for a budget presentation with potentially $100 million in cuts because his newly appointed city manager told him no.

The Government of Saskatchewan has not responded to my request for further clarity on this story.

It's worth noting the operators of the shelter, The John Howard of Society of Saskatchewan were not told about the decision.

They found out about the announcement when contacted by CBC News.

Confused? So am I.

I've highlighted to the province that the statement contradicts McLeod's comments and the comments made by Premier Scott Moe, who spoke for 10 minutes after Moose Jaw Mayor James Murdock announced he been directed by the Ministry of Social Services.

The province now says it has NOT provided a directive to move the shelter.

That comes hours after Just Minister Tim McLeod said "The request of the city is really to work together with the Ministry of Social Services to identify a location that the city feels is appropriate."

Police in Airdrie, Alberta (just north of Calgary) say this driver hit a 17-year-old girl in a marked crosswalk, got out of the vehicle, and appeared to get upset at the teenager before driving away.

They released this video and are now trying to identify the driver.

A few months ago, I approached CBC News with a pitch about crypto ATMs, which are a preferred way for fraudsters to extract money from victims. Canada has the most crypto kiosks per capita, but it lags on regulation.

If this week's consent agenda remains unchanged, the council meeting could be pretty quick. There 7 items on consent & only 2 on the main agenda. Of course, this council LOVES to pull stuff off the consent agenda then debate them to no purpose. /1 #yqrcc
