So she put out a lighter, happier, poppier album that appeals more to the mainstream as a last word before taking an extended break.

It seems very likely that she will be taking some time away from music to focus on her wedding and, potentially, starting a family, and, it seems she didn’t want to leave things at the angsty inner turmoil of TTPD when she’s in such a different place emotionally now.

To me, TTPD was the big risk. A double album primal scream of her id and angst despite being the world’s most famous person. Following that up with a new sound (70s pop influence after lingering in Jack’s 80s pastiche for too long) but an overall less ambitious lyrical endeavor makes sense to me.

If podcasts were so easy, the average life span of a podcast wouldn’t be six episodes. You shouldn’t spend $200k on a college degree program just on podcasting, sure, but I appreciate you standing up for podcasting as a little bit more than a person and a microphone.
