one of my friends in high school used to text random numbers about problems she was having, and sometimes they'd respond with genuinely good advice. just thinking about how much funnier and more helpful that is than using AI for basically the same purpose.

We keep seeing startups who want to replace something valuable (therapy, counseling, tutoring, artistic expression) with some tech bullshit under the banner of democratization. But why do we need to invest so much in bad tech that doesn't work instead of just giving people access to what they need?

Agreed with the Cooler Heads here. This act of political violence may one day soon serve as pretext to justify federal occupation of progressive cities or even unaccountable militias imprisoning people of color without due process at impenetrable, inhumane black sites. Well, I sure hope not!
