AAFP. Evidenced based medicine and humanistic care
Astute thread about current Black Sea situation, very worth your time:
Part of it—as I’ve been saying for years!—is that most Americans don’t actually grasp naval warfare at all, from the purpose of navies (to allow international maritime trade) to how naval tactics and logistics impact grand strategy—“OCEANS ARE NOW BATTLEFIELDS” is no joke, but out of sight/mind…

A great solution to a problem that ALL OTHER CIVILIZED NATIONS HAVE ALREADY MANAGED TO ADDRESS
I’d go with dropping the Medicare eligible age by a year every year until everyone is covered and then private insurance companies can compete for Medicare advantage
Rand Paul: "My plan is this -- let people on the Obamacare market, which is about 4% of America, a small number of people, let them buy their insurance through Costco, Sam's Club, Amazon ... "

Posobiec trying to drum up enthusiasm for dehumanization and genocide down at Cipriani in Manhattan with a tepid bunch of racists in attendance
“It’s the unhumans gift to us — the secular revolution breeds monsters and we will be the ones to tame them” Posobiec says, then waves a copy of Charlie Kirk’s last book to scattered applause

Make Hep B Great Again!
Here’s a statement from vaccine opponent Vicky Pebsworth that shows that they do NOT understand public health.

“Any gaps in screening pregnant women for HBsAg should be eliminated so that all infants receive appropriate care”.

Just order a plaid unicorn from Amazon while you’re at it.

#MedSky why are at least half the posts pushing AI on #Medsky? It feels like coordinated messaging. (All these posts are coming from orgs or institutions, not individuals.)

Anyone else notice this

A Battle with My Blood

This is a cancer memoir by Tatiana Schlossberg, a talented Kennedy who is dying in NYC.

It will stop you in your tracks.

She fights her brave fight at the same time her uncle dismantles health research in the US, including the projects that could possibly have cured her

I know this is not a unique observation but public health was basically created to deal with the Spanish flu, and then a century later COVID hit and killed twice as many people and our response was to destroy public health

This op-ed from NIH director Jay Bhattacharya is *infuriating*. He says we have to stop funding mRNA vaccine research because it hasn't "earned public trust." Motherfucker, WHO DID THAT.
Opinion | Jay Bhattacharya: Why the NIH is pivoting away from mRNA vaccines
As a vaccine for broad public use, mRNA technology has failed to earn the public’s trust.

I’ve read my Hannah Arendt.
Monday was my last day as senior partner in my practice. I’m walking away from it all. I put my stuff in a shipping container to the EU where GPs are welcome. It’s a huge pay cut. I spent 25 years building my practice.
I’m sorry. Too old for this shit. Bye

My prized FDA is being sold for parts
I rarely post personal things. But I need to talk about my 4-year-old niece, Hope.

She has a rare disease. A drug called elamipretide has helped her survive.

But the FDA recently denied its approval.

Now, her health hangs in the balance.

Please share her story & urge the FDA to reconsider. 🧵
