I'm an artist and web developer living in BC, Canada (on the traditional land of the shishalh people). I love art, cats, chocolate, European pastries, painting and gardening, and I'm passionate about preserving the biodiversity of life on Earth.
Day 9 of the 2025 #artadventcalendar.

A little landscape. Oil on canvas. Probably around 8 x 6 inches.

Wow, these look complex to make! Would be nice to have one for the top of my Christmas tree. :-)

Isn't this gorgeous? I love the colour scheme and the varied patterns.
Day 9 of #artadventcalendar is last years cute 4 shaft weaving sampler. I loved doing this. Should do some more.

I have experimented with alcohol inks. They are difficult to control. I'm impressed with what this artists has managed to achieve with them!
Go see my friend Nicole at the Cochrane Farmer's Market this weekend, for her gorgeous and incredibly vibrant alcohol ink originals! We've got 3 of her pieces in our house 😊.

I love the style of modern quilts with their solid fabrics. This one has a beautiful selection of colours.

What a great sight to catch on camera!
#artadventcalendar Day 9. I captured this special moment with a mother fox nursing two of her kits while on high alert this spring in southern Alberta.

Day 8 of the 2025 #artadventcalendar.

One of my all-time favourite creations. It's one of the few times I managed to move away from intense colours. And it's the second-largest painting I've ever made.

It's called "Lifting the Weight Off". Oil on Canvas. 36 x 24 inches, I think.

Day 7 of the 2025 #artadventcalendar.

This is "Mesa Fortress". 24 x 24 inches. Oil on canvas.

It's the first larger painting I ever sold. I was hanging a show with 2 friends in a local business and it was still on the floor. A customer walked in and asked if it was for sale. I was thrilled!

What a cutie!
And isn't the quality of light in this photo amazing?
On Day 7 of #ArtAdventCalendar, I offer up a Porcupine in a Tree. #wildlife

Wow... Our #artadventcalendar organizer, Jay, is a talented guy! Paintings + stone carving.
I'm going to do another #artAdventCalendar post tonight because my last one had such a poor photo (only one i have of it)

Here's a soapstone carving I did in 2019 of a white breasted nuthatch.

Can you believe these are cupcakes!!?
Day 7 of the #ArtAdventCalendar. An edible entry this time around. These are vanilla cupcakes with American buttercream that I made for my sister’s birthday in April. I don’t do decorative piping often, but when I do, it’s always nice to challenge myself and these were fun.

A lovely photo of a very cool looking cave.

Day 6 of the 2025 #artadventcalendar.

A small painting from a series I did for art school years back. It shows a pier in Trail Bay, Sechelt, the town near where I live. A friend who is also a painter purchased this one.

Day 5 of the 2025 #artadventcalendar.

An older work called "In the Pacific". I still have it. It's 24 x 24 inches, oil paint on canvas.

Back when I had it hanging in the dining room, I was so pleased when my young nephew guessed that this abstracted work was a painting about the ocean.

I love this piece of embroidery. So natural looking...

It's not too late to start sharing your artwork with the #ArtAdventCalendar tag! Come join us all in lightening up the dark days of winter (here in the Northern Hemisphere) by sharing your creations.
If you are thinking about joining #ArtAdventCalendar but are thinking you missed a day or you won't be able to post every day, remember you get to be like Gandalf and arrive (or leave) precisely when you mean to...
a wizard is never late nor is he early he arrives precisely when he means to ..
Alt: man with a long beard and a big wizard's hat saying a wizard is never late nor is he early he arrives precisely when he means to ..

I love how loose this painter's style is. Something I struggle with myself. (And that cute cat!)

What an idyllic looking spot!

Day 4 of the 2025 #artadventcalendar.

Oil on canvas. 14 x 18 inches. I called this "Georgia Strait at Dusk".

Georgia Strait is between Vancouver Island and the mainland here in BC. A short walk from my home, and down a tall set of stairs, takes me to a rocky beach that looks over the strait.

Day 3 of the 2025 #artadventcalendar.

Another older painting that I called "Earth Power". I was practicing working with transparent colours and wiping them back to expose canvas in spots. Oil on canvas. 24 x 18 inches.

Whoops! the month is getting away from me. Here's my first, belated, share for Day 1 of the 2025 #artadventcalendar.

This is an older work that I still have. 24 x 24 inch oil on canvas. It's called "Deep Rooted".

(Prices and availability are on my website alisonjtaylor.com, if you're interested.)

The area where I live... Worth fighting for.
Where fireweed turns rust-red and the mountains breathe in cloud; this is the Coast we fight for.
Quiet resilience. Living beauty. A reminder that conservation begins right where our feet meet the forest floor.
