Gonna disagree with Evans here a little bit: Yud's writing style is hyperbolic because his ideas are so boring. They're not absurd because they're novel, they're absurd because they're trivially wrong, and Yud tries to hide that by refusing to write in a clear, confident manner.
That's literally the only way Eleizer Yudkowsky knows how to write, because his entire belief system is so absurd it can only seem plausible if described in parables and references to movies or video games
Jesus this book is tedious. The authors like to explain everything through little made up fables and fictional dialog between anthropomorphized characters. Just skipping page after page of nonsense writing.

EA is fascinating as an example of "why your philosophy SHOULDN'T exist entirely in one bureaucracy." Some pyramid climbers will take off your mission and turn into an excuse to loot everything or, at best, burn down the house in the name of their asinine pet project.
I removed yesterday's VOD because I played AOE on stream because I was inattentive and forgot that it is subject to BDS. Apologies to anybody who was hoping to watch the VOD; if I put it up anywhere in the future I'll likely remove that segment.
