Worth a read. Especially if you’re a cyclist.

You may not agree with it but the rationale is sound.

Following today’s sentencing of Paul Doyle, several people have understandably queried why he was not banned from driving for life.

It’s a good question, and one I attempted to grapple with in #NothingButTheTruth in the context of repeat driving offenders.

I'm listening to this at the moment and it's lovely. An intimate encounter with a gentle change of the tide

Russia destroyed 100% of Odesa’s energy infrastructure. All substations were destroyed by missiles and drones.

The city has been completely left without electricity, hot water, and heating for over one million people, including all critical infrastructure.

“His grief he will not forget; but it will not darken his heart, it will teach him wisdom.” - Aragorn about Merry

This is profound. There is a grief that will cut deep and leave wounds - but as the wound heals, it will scar over and bring deep lessons you cannot get outside of the pain.

The algorithms are making it a lot harder to spread the word about these online talks. Although numbers are still reasonable, it would be a great help if folk were able to give the 30 December event a quick share 🙂

Jaylo spent a night at the vets because they wanted to do a CT scan but tbh the diagnosis remains the same.

Treatment demands multiple types of injections in multiple joints on both front legs with little chance he will be pain free by spring, and treatment will be frequent and forever.

Sorry for the late upload, this week’s podcast is now live. We discuss Constable vs Turner, Caravaggio (and for some reason, rats in art 🐀).

When I think of artist Rowland Hilder’s work I think of winter scenes of rural Kent.
But I also love his London landscapes

Problems that cannot be solved by proposal to do without juries at trial
Here is a list of reasons why some of my hearings and trials this year have been delayed and kicked off into the long grass, stuck in our record court backlog. Serious allegations which will now be tried *years* after the event. 🧵👇

I get the 'failure to concentrate ' problem. I'm so much older and yet it happens to me.

To remedy it I pick up favourite novels and re visit the pleasures of being consumed by a good story and writing.

I'm glad I have them to fall back on, but it's only possible after a long lifetime of reading.
I am forever explaining assignments which, to me, feel fairly basic. I do offer some creative options, which need a bit more context. But so many of my students seem unable to follow instructions, even when I return to them multiple times, write them down, or turn them into games or quizzes.

Mull of Kintyre was the best-selling single of the 1970s and the worst piece of shit Wings ever wrote.

This is a seriously expensive diagnostic
Not a great day 😢

I wish I was surprised. Buried in this Budget is a plan to slash the Digital Services Tax, giving a multi-billion tax cut to US tech giants and the likes of Elon Musk.

That's right, cutting taxes for the world's richest man while hiking them for millions of hard-working Brits.
