📌 Genre romance writers in the U.S. need to start lobbying the U.S. Congress to forestall that happening here. And no, "but my stuff is ~clean~ and ~wholesome~!" won't save you. If you leave erotica or queer writers be axed, all you did was get closer to the blade yourself.

All free or no one free.
The arrest of online fanfic erotica writers (99% young women) in China is still ongoing, some are getting sentenced to 10 years in prison

I didn’t see any newer international coverage of this but I saw on Weibo today that more writers are getting sentenced right now

Chinese police target writers of gay erotica with prison terms and heavy fines
The crackdown in Anhui has triggered debates about possible abuses of power and whether the law itself is too heavy-handed.

I went out to dinner the other night and there was a family seated with the parents facing each other. On the mom’s side, she was trying to eat while feeding a hyperactive toddler that kept dancing around and balancing a baby that slept on her shoulder. D’you see where this is going?

Just finished Tomb of Dragons and I understand people’s accusations of queerbaiting and yes, wtf Iana — but what a joy it was to return to Thara Celehar’s world and possibly see him return to the emperor’s court in the next book.

Neena: What I wish is impossible.
Lilly: What is it?
Neena: I want girls to be safe. That’s impossible in this country.

A few thoughts on taking the metro in India:

It genuinely makes such a difference to my mental health not to be stuck in the horrendous dusty, loud traffic on the streets below. No men spitting or pissing everywhere, no threat of imminent death, the a/c works unlike cabs. 11/10 recommend.

NB: laudanum was opium dissolved in alcohol, and in Victorian times they used alcohol about as strong as whisky. Wilkie Collins drank a *pint* of this, *a day*. So if you have ever wondered about his plotting, wonder no more.
The bottle may have contained Laudanum or ‘tincture of opium.’ By the 19thC twenty drops of this would have caused a penny, so was easily affordable & was a staple treatment prescribed as a pain killer. Byron, Dickens, Samuel Taylor Coleridge & Elizabeth Gaskell were all prolific laudanum users.
