This. I tend to be a little more cautious w/ my calls scripts, since I want to push for concrete/actionable results immediately.

But Republicans have always fixated on a goal, no matter how difficult it was... and look at them now. We could do with more of this.
The GOP didn't have the votes for many years but that didn't stop them from pulling out every procedural trick possible while screaming at Dems on TV. And now they're in charge.
Lot of people yelling recently "but we don't have the votes!" True! That doesn't mean "immediately quit." (Also not what propter is saying here, to be clear.) It means create a spectacle, make things cause celebres, make the Republican position untenable.

Create bargaining position and force votes.

This TNN interview was so validating. I sat with my girlfriend - a trans woman - and narrated to her how everything we'd felt about the NYT's coverage of trans people was true. We weren't conspiracy theorists. We weren't crazy. The transphobic smoke did, in fact, indicate fire (It usually does.)

Evan Urquhart and @billiejsweeney.bsky.social have something in spades the folks responsible for NYT's trans coverage are sorely lacking: integrity.

It takes integrity to share the response of an org you've covered negatively. It means you stand by the work, and you trust readers to find truth.
Evan here. After thinking about this long and hard, I'm posting a link to a New York Times' response to an interview with Billie Sweeney (who generously volunteers as an editor and writer with Assigned Media).

This interview ran in another outlet, Trans News Network.

I'm assuming we'll also be cutting off China's access to cheap oil, but not sure how that's going to work out when Venezuela owes them a lot of money.

Are we going to be paying for that? 🧐

Do I have this straight? Trump is leaving the Chavista government in power, using what they're doing to Maduro as a threat to ensure Maduro's second stays in line and gives the US access to oil, while changing nothing about Venezuelans' life under a dictatorship?

Let me try that again.

It's January 5, and the state of Utah just banned three more books from every single public school in the state. Utah now has more state-sanctioned book bans than any other state in the US.

This comes nearly entirely from only *2* districts.

It's moving the Overton window in a way that we should all extremely uncomfortable about, and not assume things will get back to normal, because weak.
