Stede carefully arranges himself on a comfy ledge, padded out with a precisely selected range of seaweeds, and Ed hops out of his palm and propels himself towards Stede's tail. His tentacles brush the sensitive patch of skin, and Stede nods, babbles assent, as the tip of one pushes between the crease. “Oh, fuck—” he gasps. It's an odd sensation, delicate and smooth and achingly familiar — each of Ed's tentacles is about the same width as Stede's fingers, and Stede knows that prodding feeling all too well from his own ministrations.

But it's Ed, so everything is more.

$The undersides of his tentacles are rough and raised with tiny suckers — Stede barely feels them normally, too small for his skin to register, but on the sensitive flesh of his folds, every bump and raised edge sends sparks through his body. The suckers stay latched onto his flesh for a fraction of a second after Ed moves on, dragging out every sensation for a hair longer than Stede's prepared for, and it feels like Ed is everywhere, swarming him, trailing pleasure in his wake. When he looks down, Ed's only stroking his folds with one careful tentacle. “Holy fuck,” he moans.$

Being in close quarters with Stede after everything - the heartbreak and the crying and the sobbing and the throwing up from sobbing and the falling asleep sobbing and the waking up sobbing... and then the reconciliation, all of it — is actually pretty fuckin' nice.
Everything feels perfect even when it isn't. The scarcity of food makes everything taste even better, the straw mattress is a nightmare but it feels like a dream when he's lying next to Stede. Manual labor feels exciting - he's fallen off the roof twice. Stede has fallen off more.
Ed caught him once, and the combined weight of them and the force of the fall sprained both of Ed's ankles.
Ed loves it, loves him.
