"Hemispheric mob boss" is a great phrase, but I also find this oddly reassuring. If we are increasingly caught up in a world where might makes right, we should at least be clear-eyed about it and prepared to act accordingly.

I don't think people realize how quickly self-sorting is happening as the middle evaporates.
