Headed to Bristol today for some jollys. Why is it we do all the good things we meant to get around to right before we leave?

"The rain was cold, pitiless & increasing. A damp, keen wind blew down the cross streets leading from the river. The fumes of the gas works seemed to fall with the rain. The roadway was muddy; the pavement greasy; the lamps burned dimly..." Happy #BookWormSat from Charlotte Riddell (1882)

Hi! Nice to meet you, I'm the faceless technician who's job it is to explain what a nanorobot is to the audience in every movie with a magic nanotech liquid metal character. You might have already met my brother, the guy who explains that EMP stands for electromagnetic pulse.

OK BlueSky network, can we do the six degrees of Kevin Bacon thing? Does anyone know Ian Livingstone or someone in similar tech/tabletop gaming/boardgame area? I've got a tech demo that I'd love to take further, or at least show to people who might 'get it'.

Reposts appreciated.

Friend sending me incredible photos of sunny countryside 30 minutes walk from their door, and gosh, your whole outlook on life can change if you manage to put yourself in better surroundings. Amazing.

Many sea stars begin life as young fairy-like creature (called a brachiolaria) that float through the open ocean. Eventually, a small star forms within them (here in yellow). The fairy-like brachiolaria sinks under the star’s weight, and the star pops out!

Traian's Curios

#dailysketch Day 124
#art #illustration

Technically took us two days to make, but I think it paid off. Really happy with how this one turned out!
A digital sketch of a woman behind the counter of a magical curio shop. A cat sleeps on the counter next to her while a dog sits on a stool trying to get her attention. There's also a frog with a crown. on the shelves behind her are various additional artefacts.

I am so overwhelmed right now with the sheer amount of tasks.

And the sheer amount of terrible immigration middle-man excel 'forms' and 'send us your passport by email' nonsense I have to push back on.
I was designing better websites in 1998 than this stuff.

On ep 3 of my first Beyond Evil rewatch.

Since I now have an idea what happens it's fascinating to see all the little details and character interactions I missed because I didn't understand what they meant first time round.

Really clever how it keeps you guessing 😎

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:
www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employmen...
Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."
