i hate this rhetoric so much. has he ever spoken to someone who has relied on SNAP? i have, personally & professionally, & none of these hateful characterizations are true. the fact that they don’t care that people go hungry illustrates their lack of character & inhumanity
2/ they both worked very hard & into retirement ages b/c of medical expenses. until you are faced with the reality of how incredibly expensive housing & care is for your parents, you are generally blissfully uninformed. this hateful rhetoric around a program that (barely) feeds ppl drives me crazy
my mom received help through SNAP awhile after my dad died. their savings went quickly. medical & living expenses were more than myself & my 2 siblings could fully cover. SNAP helped make it possible for her to live independently with some support, which gave her dignity
family separation is their cruel intent & it is heartbreaking. the degree that people seem to not care (because it does not impact them personally…yet) is hard for me to wrap my head around. i am so sorry this happened to this family. and all of the other people who are being terrorized.
