I guess there's more people here than before, so hello!

I write horror and romance.
I also narrate and produce audiobooks, (especially indie romance books).

I'm looking for author friends and fellow fans of dark/fantasy/paranormal romance, mysteries, sci-fi, or thrillers.

I just love books.
I promise you need this today
"Tasks for the Mourning, or Flowers as for Flesh" by G.E. Woods gives us careful, detailed instructions for one of the hardest tasks of all. Read it today and let it change you:

I think some people just literally don't know. I have a friend who doesn't work in tech and started one to share workout routines with friends. They aren't chronically online and they just hadn't heard.

Looking for some trans+ rep that’s out of this world? 🥁 We do tend to get fewer scifi titles on our StoryGraph suggestions, so if you have more suggestions, we’d love to hear them. (Especially if they’re indie!)

Can personally vouch for the usefulness of Affinity photo and designer. Way cheaper than an Adobe subscription in the long run too
wow look at all of these better alternatives to Adobe that exist

ask me about Pixelart programs if interested in that aspect specifically because you *definitely* don't need PS for that, lol

Okay Trans Books Bingo cards at the ready. Anyone got Gay Men MCs?

My debut Lightborne has 3 of them and I love them all, even the one who's a total psycho.

I think it has something to do with how I have no expectations when I start a new fic. Then it's really good and you go from 0-100 so fast. Wow this is one of the best things I've ever read and then it's just over.

Finishing a really good fan fic is so emotionally taxing.
Time to go back to the mines to find another gem in the rubble, I guess.

I know a lot of people are boycotting Amazon, which is great, but it's hurting a lot of trans authors.

Trans authors: Drop links to your NON-AMAZON book listings/storefronts.

Cis people: Repost, boost, and, importantly, buy. Part of boycotting an evil corporation is supporting the alternatives.

Important that people recognise this was published nearly a year ago. You're only just noticing it now because the media completely buried it because it's not convenient to their narrative. Tell people about it.

I'm reading To Seduce a Siren by Jenny Nordback and The Night and It's Moon by Piper C.J. and listening to the audiobook of Lights Out by Navessa Allen and might start The Lottery and Other Stories by Shirley Jackson.
If you see this, quote it with what you’re reading this weekend:

I’m hoping to finish A Caribbean Heiress in Paris, about which I have *very* mixed feelings, then move on to something deeply lesbian to get the taste out of my mouth
If you see this, quote it with what you’re reading this weekend:

I'm powering through a reread of The Grace of Sorcerers by @devi.bsky.social and @benjanun.bsky.social

I read The Lottery, probably like many Americans in grade school, but I was never introduced to the context in which it was written. I'm definitely going to read it now.
A lesser-known power of Shirley Jackson's 'The Lottery' is where it comes in its collection.

Spoilers, but I suspect you know how 'The Lottery' ends. It's famous for a reason.

But this is important: Jackson arranged the collection it was named after, and she chose the arrangement. 1/

I don't have a solution. This isn't that sort of thread.

I'm pleading a bit. Don't stop caring, even if you're tired. Care about trans people.

Care about immigrant neighbors. Care if people are hungry, if children are sick.

Building is tougher than breaking, but caring is how we win.
