tl;dr give to your local foodbank

Early today. I stopped at a church food pantry in an affluent Chicago suburb. 2 hours before the pantry opens, probably 50 people were lined up. I got an earful from the pastor (no she didn't vote for him) on expected shortages, because funding has been cut off.

As a DOJ attorney said in court yesterday, the feds aren't done with their deportation campaign in the Chicago area.

At least 2 Chicagoland rapid response teams confirmed immigration agent activity today. Videos emerging online corroborate Border Patrol presence in Cicero, IL this morning.

As many of my peers/friends go through this -- parents who could have made decisions about their care/living situations when they were in good shape (lolsob) -- I can't help but see the same dynamics playing out in our government-by-gerontocracy.

This is a gift. Thank you to @siembranc.bsky.social for sharing this new toolkit with what they did when Border Patrol showed up in NC: docs.google.com/document/d/1... - share far and wide especially with our comrades in MN and LA (New Orleans esp).
Toolkit: how we dealt with Border Patrol
In November 2025, Border Patrol announced it would be coming to Charlotte, North Carolina. We only had a few days’ notice. Just like in Chicago and Los Angeles, they weren’t coming to “keep the peace....

Dems in Congress should start demanding the list of names of all ICE “agents”. These people seem to walk more carefully when they know consequences may be around the corner.

People of New Orleans! Do you see ICE agents in action. Report it on Waze as "Icy Conditions." Keep people in the loop.

Hard disagree. The official BLS jobs numbers are still the most reliable data we have, and it's not close. And there's no way the Administration has (yet) fiddled with its data. I promise to let you know at the first whiff of interference.
The only reliable data we are going to get on this stuff now comes from the private sector. bsky.app/profile/atru...
🚨 CNBC on latest jobs numbers: "A big miss on ADP payrolls. The private payroll company saying private payrolls shed 32,000 workers in Nov. That's the 4th negative number in past 6 months. The estimate was for +40,000, so the street was off ... this may be coming from being hammered by the tariffs"

Homelessness in the U.S. is far more pervasive than the official figures suggest: roughly four million people are without housing right now.

Many are part of the low-wage labor force, powering the very economy that has abandoned them.
