This tiny quilt (32” x 48”) is officially my favorite thing I ever made 😊 It incorporates my love of scraps & color theory in a way that feels very ME. It was a very challenging puzzle I enjoyed. I will pursue this technique further! #QuiltSky
A small quilt in the double four patch pattern which is constructed of smaller squares and larger squares arranged in patterns of dark and light so as to create diagonal stripes in small dark fabrics from top left to bottom right, and the same but in light fabrics from top right to bottom left. The light squares are various cream colored prints while the darker prints smoothly flow from teals and aquas at the top through browns, pinks, and purples toward the bottom

Ohhh I believe it. Audiobooks are my only way through these. I quilt while I listen.

Went for a small walk yesterday and started this drawing on a park bench. Finished this afternoon at home. 90% Derwent Inktense pencils, which I quite like for this sort of kids book style, plus some watercolour and standard soft coloured pencils
A drawing of a pumpking with a spooky face carved into it, in a childrens picturebook sort of style.

Oh! Also, if you’ve already read Hamilton, I recommend Angelica By Molly Beer about his dynamic sister-in-law.

I’m still in the middle of listening to The Pioneers by McCullough about settling Ohio & that territory & it’s great.

To appreciate Abigail better I recommend Abigail Adams by Woody Holton. I loved Nathaniel Philbrick’s trilogy & Hamilton by Chernow as well. & 1776 by McCullough of course. Hope there’s some things you haven’t read yet on this list!

I’m glad I listened to The Americanization of
Benjamin Franklin by Gordon S. Wood before I read John Adams by David McCullough because JA will make you sneer at BF & JA will redeem himself in McCullough’s book after being disdained by Ben.

But it will also make you fall in love with Josiah Quincy Jr only to break your heart 😢. To find out more about the mysterious Sam Adams I picked The Revolutionary by Stacy Schiff which I thought was excellent.

Ok, I dove in clueless, read things out of order & followed up on people I was interested in learning more about or authors I liked. In no particular order; American Rebels by Nina Sankovitch really stuck with me. It will give you more respect for John Hancock who gets treated like a diva elsewhere

And it’s really worth the effort, you’ll enjoy it for years!

Because I live near Lexington and Concord, I have fallen deep deep deep into a revolutionary war history rabbit hole. I’ve listened to 20 audiobooks since April 19. I am revolutionary war pilled and I’m not at all sorry. #history

Mom says she has no idea why we called it that

Growing up we called a grilled cheese sandwich a “cheese toastwich” & I wonder if this product from the 70s is why
Betty Crocker package for 4 grilled cheese toastwiches.

Okay, I really don’t want to keep talking about this, since frankly - I hate KP. She’s an example of toxic management, and I saw what she did to my friends.

But I’m really disturbed by the number of women, specifically white women on Threads and on here, justifying her cursing at staff.

Going to be honest: Threads going to bat for Katie Porter is one of the most 🫠 things I've seen today...

And really speaks to my ongoing belief we shouldn't stan politicians. At all.

Fellow Dems, hold politicians accountable for their work, not for who you THINK they are only on camera.
