It’s useful to think about things like this in numbers of tenure track professors.

$33M is 358 assistant professors. Or about fourteen percent of the total number of full-time faculty at Michigan State.
SOURCES: Michigan State is firing head coach Jonathan Smith, @theathletic.com has learned.

He went 9-15 in two seasons, including 1-8 in the Big Ten this year. (ESPN first reported).

MSU players meeting called for 2:45. Smith has a $33 million buyout (with offset).

As Pete Hegseth denies the cold-blooded murder of survivors on the U.S. boat attack in the Caribbean (aka war crimes), remember that this is the same guy who initially lied and said he didn't share United States attack plans with a journalist in a Signal group chat.

And this is so obnoxious because actual-politics is kind of a fucking layup right now.

Your opponents are running a historically corrupt government.

Be anti-corruption. Run on fixing the shit they broke, holding assholes accountable, and improving people’s lives.

Duh.

It’s an editorial choice to describe the legitimate criticisms of Vinay Prasad’s as being about his “leadership style” rather than his demolition of the institution and menace and harms he poses to the health of Americans.

We’ve petitioned AGSulzberger and NYT to bring back the Public Editor…

False equivalence enables antiscience.

These are editorial choices.

Excellent quotes from established experts like Drs. Offit, Osterholm and Marks are introduced later in the piece rather than frame the piece, the introduction or headline.

“anti-vaccine” makes an appearance later on

“another sharp u-turn” ??

Grotesque euphemism to describe acts that will kill people by subversion of established science and reality.

Alternatively do the NYT and author doubt vaccine science?

They are not “critics” they are science deniers.

This report sanitizes and normalizes the profound assaults on the FDA/CDC and the inevitable harmful impacts (morbidity and death) of antiscience.

The first paragraphs are pure stenography devoid of context or critical analysis.

This opening is as much a press release as it is a “scoop”.

NYT occupies a central hub of the news ecosystem. With collapse of funding for journalism more media orgs rely on NYT reporting either by syndication or reporting “The NYTimes reports…”.

Its failures are impactful.

This is profoundly irresponsible by AGSulzberger’s NYT, @by-cjewett.bsky.social +eds.

The normalization, “view-from-nowhere”, “born-yesterday”, stenography, “both-sides”, irresponsible headline are disgraceful.
THE story is the CDC&FDA are being destroyed by antiscience & Americans will die.

All experts are demanding proof, b/c this is based on VAERS reports, & VAERS does not require any proof whatsoever of reports made to it—not even medical records or autopsy reports, which your article does not mention. Nor do you include that Prasad links VAERS reports to myocarditis w/o proof.
