i left the church and have nothing to do with it anymore but something happens when i see priests and pastors and rabbis and imams and sikhs at protests going so hard in mega harsh conditions i get choked up. this is how all of that is supposed to be. that's what all of that is supposed to be for.

I think it's important to boost news of the general strike in Minneapolis today and it's possible to do it without the hyperbole that nobody in the media is covering it

It may not be getting the attention it deserves! Posting links to reported stories is one way to combat that!

While we’re on the subject of Oscar nominations, I feel like now is a good time re-up this article from Teen Vogue: www.teenvogue.com/story/oscars...
The Union-Busting Roots of the Oscars
Giving filmmakers and actors awards was a ploy to keep them from organizing.

Read this thread, if you have a few minutes of your time.
I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

I know this isn’t the main point of this article, but *why the fuck* do so many Fox News presenters call Donald Trump ‘daddy?‘

Marty Supreme was engrossing in the sense that it was an unexpected indictment of the kind of ambition that you’re allowed to have in this country (especially you’re a white dude).

So often, the way we are taught history erases the solidarity between protest movements. But it was there.

We are perhaps the only nation which tried as a matter of national policy to wipe out its Indigenous population. Moreover, we elevated that tragic experience into a noble crusade. Indeed, even today we have not permitted ourselves to reject or feel remorse for this shameful episode.

To be politically conscious from 2000-2009, and more specifically from 2001-2005, was to have your brain stamped with a feverish Curse of Knowing. So when you see shit like this, all you can think is “Dick Cheney insisting on links between Al Qaeda and Saddam”. You never forget the scent.

President Trump and his allies have proposed 2 new policies that attempt to ban gender-affirming care for youth nationwide.

The time to be loud is now. Tell the Department of Health and Human Services to stop targeting trans youth.

Germany has spent the last few decades lying through their teeth to the rest of the world. Such should be obvious by now. They never learned from their past, nor have they confronted it in any substantial way.
The far-right AfD are either equal first or leading outright in every major national German poll.

153 House Democrats voted YES. The Democratic Party will not be our savior. Far from it.
The House voted 341 to 79 to fund Trump's war-mongering foreign policy agenda.

Only 57 Democrats voted NO.

As someone who has canvassed more often than the majority of Americans, I can attest to this. The median American voter is an enigma that is beyond the reach of any political science study/article.
Everyone who is politically attentive should canvas at least once if for no reason other than to see firsthand how utterly incoherent the politics of the modal American are. "Homer Simpson webpage" incoherent is the baseline and it either pleasantly surprises you or deeply horrifies you from there.
